Gemma Collins to release Christmas single Baby It's Cold Outside this week

Gemma Collins is set to release a cover of Baby It's Cold Outside this week, making her a surprise contender for this year's Christmas Number 1. 

The GC is collaborating on the festive duet with former Celebrity Big Brother co-star, Darren Day. 

The new single - the reality star's first - will be released this Friday, December 11 through indie outfit Rebel Records.

Announcing the track on her social media, the TOWIE star said: "I wanted to do something fun and fabulous for you all for charity as it’s been a tough year for all, I hope this spreads some cheer and warmth in your hearts." 

No word yet on whether she's feeling Santa Claus-trophobic about the release.

While this is Gemma's first track to see a release, Darren Day experienced some success as a solo artist in the early 90s, scoring one Top 20 single in 1996 with Summer Holiday Medley.

Last year, The GC confirmed she was working with Naughty Boy on original material after signing to Universal, but it appears this has now fallen through.

She previously has another bid for Christmas Number 1 under her belt, however - even though the Cast of TOWIE's rendition of Last Christmas ranks among one of the most bizarre festive releases in recent memory.
