Everything But The Girl take the lead over Enter Shikari in this week's Number 1 album race

Fuse could provide the duo their first-ever UK Number 1 LP this week - but it's not over yet.

Things are hotting up in the race for this week's Official Number 1 album, as Everything But The Girl edge ahead of Enter Shikari in today's update.

As things stand, indie-pop duo Everything But The Girl's first studio album together in 24 years, Fuse, currently sits just 650 chart units ahead of alt-rock band Enter Shikari's latest release A Kiss For The Whole World at Number 2. 

There's all to play for in this week's race as both acts are hoping to score their first Number 1 album - so whoever you're backing, you've got until 11.59pm on Thursday 27 April to show your support.

Everything But The Girl have four UK Top 10 albums to their name currently; 1985’s Love Not Money (10), 1990’s The Language of Love (10) 1993’s greatest hits compilation Home Movies (5) and 1996’s Walking Wounded (6). Explore Everything But The Girl's Official Charts history in full here.

Meanwhile Enter Shikari, comprising Chris Batten, Rou Reynolds, Rob Rolfe and Rory Clewlow, have previously claimed five Top 10 records; 2007 debut Take To The Skies (4), 2012’s A Flash Flood of Colour (4), 2015’s The Mindsweep (6), 2017’s The Spark (5) and their highest-charting LP so far, 2020’s Nothing Is True And Everything Is Possible (2).

Oh, and then there's Taylor Swift.

Following Saturday's 16th annual Record Store Day, Taylor Swift's exclusive vinyl release folklore - The Long Pond Sessions eyes a Top 5 entry this Friday; currently tracking for Number 3.

Should Taylor's Record Store Day release hold on, it'll become her 12th UK Top 10 LP across a career spanning 14 years.

Such bad luck for Enter Shikari. But it might be better that way, ES's album is going to drop so bad the following week anyway, I don't need to see another Ellie Goulding kind of fall.
