This year’s UK Eurovision entry Joe and Jake have said they’re "really excited for the future" despite a disappointing result at this year’s competition.

After an impressive performance of their song You're Not Alone in Stockholm last Saturday (May 14) and a twelve points from the Maltese voting jury, the British lads ended up in 24th place out of the 26 competing acts.

"We were so pleased with our performance and came off stage absolutely buzzing, knowing we had done the best performance of the song that we had ever done,” Joe told OfficialCharts.com. “We did the best we could have and performed in-front of 200 million people.

"It’d be a very different feeling in our heads now if we walked off stage knowing we could have done better but we did everything we could."

Jake added: "We had the balls to do it! We’re so proud of ourselves. Everyone in the UK has said such nice things about us and it’s just amazing to hear."

Do the boys think that performing second last during the final, or not performing during the semi-finals held their campaign back a little?

"To be honest, going into it we thought it was an advantage [performing 25th] because we’d stay fresh in everyone’s heads but with these types of shows, you can never call whether it’s better to be first or last," explained Joe.

"We got to have part of our performance shown in the semi-final so the song was still heard", added Jake. "As far as [automatically qualifying] goes, our performance in the final spoke volumes in terms of how ready we were."

With their Eurovision experience now over, Joe and Jake's focus is on releasing a second single. "We’ve just completed the biggest part of our careers so far," Jake said. "We didn’t quite get the score we wanted in Eurovision but it would be great to get Top 40. It’s a dream come true for any musician.

"We’re very much looking forward to putting out more music. We’ve been working on loads of stuff for quite a while now, in and out of studios trying to write and record as much as we can. There are some rumours about presenting too so we’ve got plenty coming up. We’re really excited for the future and are pushing towards our second single in the summer."
