Eurovision 2023: UK stands behind Mae Muller with I Wrote A Song heading to Top 10

Despite a loss in Liverpool, Mae is looking to bounce back quickly with her first Top 10 hit.

Following an admittedly disappointing result at last night’s Eurovision Song Contest, the UK has got behind our entry, with Mae Muller’s I Wrote A Song heading for the Top 10 for the first time.

The Eurodance banger, co-written by Mae, Karen Poole and Lewis Thompson, is predicted to shimmy a massive thirty-six places to a brand new peak of Number 9, netting Mae her first Top 10 single in the process.

It could also be a good week for Swedish Eurovision winner Loreen - now only the second person overall and the first woman to ever win twice - who could debut at Number 28 with Tattoo following her victory in Liverpool last night.

Up the top of the chart, Calvin Harris & Ellie Goulding are storming ahead for a sixth non-consecutive week at Number 1 with Miracle (1) while there could be new Top 10 peaks for Switch Disco & Ella Henderson’s React (6) and Fifty Fifty’s groundbreaking chart smart Cupid (7).

David Guetta, Anne-Marie and Coi Leray could finally crack the Top 10 with Baby Don’t Hurt Me on Friday (10), while Zara Larsson’s kinetic banger Can’t Tame Her prepares to jump ten to a new peak (20).

The issues was not the song which was good, it was the performance, Mae can sing well in a studio, but singing live in the final & the other 3 performances she proved she is not a good singer live & goes out of tune with high notes. Next year we need an artist like Sam Ryder that has a proven record of singing live.

Calm Down and As It Was need to F off. Songs like these deserve bigger and stricter ACR especially when they hog the Top 10, denying other songs of higher chart positions.

I really like Mae Muller an artist, but she wasn't the right choice for Eurovision imo.

I was hoping to see 'Tattoo' make an appearance here. A very worthy winner! 🇸🇪

I'd expect 'Tattoo' to be significantly higher on Monday's update - this first look chart only incudes a few hrs data from the post-Eurovision period, after all.

I think the song is great, a powerful dance teack, maybe her vocals failed a bit on the performance. I can't understand why did it receive just only 5 pts for tbe peoole

Which song are you on about?

No me neither. They literally have no good taste in music. To be fair her vocals were better than I thought because before the final the vocals were failing more than the final.

Also she had to rest her voice because there was something wrong with her cords. She tried her hardest for her vocals to be good. I thought her vocals were better than the ones at the rehearsals.

Next time the UK will be performing in Sweden (possibly Stockholm). So, hopefully we should have better results in next years Eurovision.

The way that 'People' is going on ACR before 'Calm Down' and 'Green Green Grass' is ridiculous! 😭
