Enter Shikari on target for their first Official Number 1 album

St Albans rockers Enter Shikari have taken an early lead in the race to the top of the Official Albums Chart with their third album, A Flash Flood Of Colour. Despite being released via their own label, Ambush Reality, the album is ahead by 4,000 copies, currently outselling the likes of Ed Sheeran’s high-flying debut + (2), and Adele’s 14-times platinum album 21 (3).

www.theofficialcharts.com spoke to bassist Chris Batten, guitarist Rory Clewlow and drummer Rob Rolfe about the making of the album this week.

“We never expected to be anywhere near the charts,” says Batten. “Especially as we came up playing our own shows and started our own label.”

Elsewhere in today’s Official Albums Chart Update, Florence & The Machine’s Ceremonials climbs back upwards, and looks set to be Top 10 this Sunday, currently taking up position as today’s Number 8. Camden rockers Tribes see their debut release Baby enter today’s Update Top 20 at Number 13.  The band are due to embark on the NME Awards Tour 2012 throughout February alongside the likes of Azealia Banks, Metronomy and Two Door Cinema Club.
