The Marshall Mathers LP 2 tops the Official Albums Chart Midweek Update after just 24 hours on sale.

Eminem looks set to score his seventh UK Number 1 album this weekend. The US rapper’s latest release, The Marshall Mathers LP 2, is also on track to become one of this year’s fastest selling albums, selling over 73,000 copies since it went on sale yesterday (Tuesday, November 5) according to the Official Charts Company’s latest sales data.

French DJ duo Daft Punk’s Random Access Memories is currently 2013’s fastest selling artist album, with a sales tally of more than 165,000 copies during its first week on sale back in May, while Now That’s What I Call Music 85 is the fastest selling album over-all, selling an incredible 262,000 copies during its first week of release back in July.

The Marshall Mathers LP 2, which is a continuation of the Eminem’s 2000 album, The Marshall Mathers LP, features US rapper’s recent Top 40 hits Berzerk, Rap God, Survival and the Number 1 smash, The Monster FT Rihanna.

2012 X Factor winner James Arthur is on course to enter at Number 2 on Sunday with his self-titled debut album, the singer’s debut offering is currently outselling Tinie Tempah’s Demonstration (3) by two copies to one. Both acts performed at last weekend’s BBC Teen Awards.

This week’s Top 5 is completed by Andre Rieu & Johann Strauss Orchestra’s Music Of The Night (4) and former Westlife vocalist Shane Filan’s debut solo album, You And Me, is at 5 today.

New Entries and High Climbers

In addition to Eminem’s The Marshall Mathers LP 2 (Number 1) James Arthur (2), Tinie Tempah’s Demonstration (3), Andre Rieu’s Music Of The Night (4) and Shane Filan’s You And Me (5), there are six other new on today’s Official Albums Chart Update.

The Overtones are on course for their third successive Top 10 album this weekend with Saturday Night At The Movies (6). As you’d expect from the title, The London-based vocal quintet’s latest studio album sees them tackling classic film soundtrack songs from the likes of Grease, Dirty Dancing, and Pretty Woman among others.

Meanwhile, The Wanted are also set for their third Top 10 album on Sunday with Word Of Mouth (7), while Avril Lavigne’s self-titled, fifth studio album is at Number 11 today. This week’s new entries are completed by The Best Of Nickelback Vol. 1 (16), The Very Best Of Bob Dylan (21) and Midlake’s Antiphon (22).

David Bowie’s latest album, The Next Day, is this week’s highest climber, soaring 85 places from Number 99 to Number 14 following the release of the deluxe edition, The Next Day Extra, earlier this week. Taylor Swift’s Red climbs 43 places to 17 after her Sunday night X Factor appearance.
