Emeli Sande's Our Version Of Events returns to Number 1

Emeli Sande‘s Our Version Of Events, has returned to Number 1 on the Official Albums Chart, thanks to a massive sales boost from the London 2012 Olympic Games. Plus: This week's Official Albums Chart Top 10 revealed.

Emeli Sande‘s Our Version Of Events, has returned to Number 1 on the Official Albums Chart, thanks to a massive sales boost from the London 2012 Olympic Games.

The Scottish singer songwriter, who appeared at both the opening and closing ceremonies of London 2012, is now on course to overtake Adele as the biggest selling album of 2012 so far. Her debut album, Our Version Of Events, finishes the week just 26,000 copies behind Adele’s landmark second album in year-to-date sales.

However, Our Version Of Events still has a long way to go before eclipsing 21’s total sales; since it was released January, 2011, 21 has sold 4.4 million copies in the UK, making it the fifth biggest-selling album of all-time.
Back to this week’s Top 5: Paloma Faith’s Fall To Grace climbs three places to Number 2, while Ed Sheeran, who also performed at the London 2012 closing ceremony, is up five places to Number 3 with +. Amy MacDonald is up 13 places to Number 4 with Life In A Beautiful Light, while Maroon 5 complete this week’s Official Albums Chart Top 5 with Overexposed (5).

New Entries and High Climbers

Britain’s Got Talent‘s Ryan O'Shaughnessy scores this week’s highest new entry with his eponymous debut album new in at Number 9. London indie rockers Spector debut at Number 12 with Enjoy It While It Lasts, and The Kinks’ new Best Of collection, Waterloo Sunset, enters at Number 14. British rockers Don Broco and While She Sleeps finish the week with new entries at Number 25 and Number 27 for their respective albums, Priorities and This Is The Six.

This week’s highest climbers are all Olympics-related with Spice GirlsGreatest Hits climbing 146 places to Number 18, Elbow’s The Seldom Seen Kid up 133 places to Number 6, and Kate Bush’s The Whole Story up 71 to Number 21.
