Ellie Goulding battling DJ Fresh and Ella Eyre for Number 1

Ellie’s track - which features on the 50 Shades of Grey film soundtrack – currently holds the lead, but snapping at her heels are DJ Fresh and Ella Eyre with their dance anthem Gravity, which is trailing by just a few thousand copies at the halfway stage.

Meanwhile, Mark Ronson’s Uptown Funk is at Number 3, Hozier’s Take Me To Church stands at 4, and Rihanna, Kanye West and Paul McCartney’s FourFiveSeconds completes the Top 5.

New entries and high climbers

New at Number 6 is Chris Brown and Tyga’s Ayo, and straight in at Number 7 is Charli XCX FT Rita Ora’s Doing It. If the track holds its position until this weekend, it will mark her fourth UK Top 10 and second as a lead artist.

Ne-Yo debuts at Number 8 with Coming With You, which serves as the lead single from his sixth album Non-Fiction (released next week), and Dutch electro house producer Bakermat is new at 12 with Teach Me.

Further down the chart, US rock band Imagine Dragons are on course for their sixth UK Top 40 with I Bet My Life, currently at Number 22, and Sam Smith’s Stay With Me is up eight places to Number 25 following his sweep at this year’s Grammys.
