Ed Sheeran's Galway Girl is Number 1 on this week's Official Trending Chart

Listen to this week's Top 20 tracks making a big impact this week, including Lorde, Little Mix and Coldplay.

With Ed Sheeran's highly anticipated new album ÷ out this week, it won't come as much of a shock that the singer holds the Top 2 spots on this week's Official Trending Chart.

The biggest (previously unreleased) track from Ed's third collection making an impact this week is Galway Girl, closely followed by Perfect.

Both tracks are on course to enter this week's Top 5 on the Official Singles Chart Top 40, which currently includes all 16 tracks on ÷. Only two songs by the same artist are eligible for the Official Trending Chart, which is why more don't appear on the tally (the chart's full methodology can be found at the bottom of the page).

Another big entry on this week's trending Top 20 comes from Lorde and her new single Green Light. The first taster of the New Zealand singer's second album is on track to debut inside this week's singles Top 40, currently at Number 24 in the latest sales flash.

Elsewhere, Little Mix's new single from their Glory Days album No More Sad Songs - now re-worked to feature Machine Gun Kelly - impacts this week's Official Trending Chart, as does Coldplay's latest track Hypnotised, the lead release from their upcoming Kaleidoscope EP.

The Official Trending Chart is a brand new chart launched for 2016 to highlight the hottest new tracks beginning to make an impact in the UK every week.

The Top 20 rundown, published on OfficialCharts.com every Tuesday, based on the first four days’ sales of each chart week, is designed to highlight emerging hits as they begin to scale the Official Charts and build buzz.

The Official Trending Chart ranks titles which are showing week-on-week chart growth, and is the only “new music” chart to reflect audio track sales and streams comprehensively across all services.

Devised by the Official Charts Company in close consultation with labels, retailers and media, the chart since launch has highlighted emerging hits such as Number 1 single One Dance by Drake, and The Chainsmokers & Halsey's chart topper Closer.

The chart is designed to help highlight hit singles in their early stages of their growth, in the light of the shift in release strategies of record labels over the past six months.
