Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift set for highest new entry on Official Singles Chart

Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift look set to claim this week’s highest new entry at Number 2 with The Joker and the Queen; following Ed’s show-stopping BRIT Awards performance of the track. The single could out-peak the pair’s last collaboration Everything Has Changed, which managed Number 7 in 2012.

But could it be the UK’s new Number 1? Current chart-topper We Don’t Talk About Bruno is currently on-track to make it a five-week run at the top in the UK, though Ed and Taylor pose a real threat to Encanto’s reign this week.

US actress and singer Dove Cameron could also claim her first-ever UK Top 20 single this week. Boyfriend is looking at a strong debut on the chart at Number 15 after the track’s success on TikTok saw its release pulled forwards.

Elsewhere in the First Look Top 10, Lost Frequencies and Calum Scott’s collaboration Where Are You Now holds tight in the Number 5 position, Sam Fender’s Seventeen Going Under rebounds one place to Number 6 following his BRITs performance and Best Alternative/Rock Act win, and Belters Only and Jazzy’s Make Me Feel Good continues to rise, currently sitting at Number 7.

Ed Sheeran’s Bad Habits looks set to climb back into the Top 20 following his BRIT Awards performance of the track with Bring Me The Horizon, while Shivers currently sits just below it at Number 17.

Finally, Tiesto & Ava Max could enter the Top 20 with The Motto for the first time, rising three places after 48 hours.

Only 2 new enteries really? thats low again, bring back 1998 to 2011 where there is like nearly a dozen in a week, Why is there Four/4 Ed Sheeran Songs, in the Singles Charts right now,Lucky Man, i thought at one time in a week Artist was only allowed 3 songs now, he kind of escaped the rules for this, there too much old track or songs sticked around in the Top 40 Charts fro way to long, there need to do like BBC Asian Network when they ACR the tracks they need to hammer them out the Top 40 for fresher tracks, there too many songs glued in the Top 40 now even with some ACR Ajustment,

Ed Sheeran with 4 simultaneous top 20's - 2 #1s and 2 #2s. Insane. When was the last time he was off the chart altogether or had a single on the chart with peak position below the top 5?

It's sad that Taylor Swift has only one UK number one hit. But it's sadder that Ed Sheeran has eight hundred and forty-seven UK number one hits. Unfortunately I'm with Bruno this week

Nu No

It's funny that you corrected what was obvious sarcasm and still got it wrong, since he has 13.

Is still says only Ed in the table, but Taylor’s mentioned in the article title & I’m not sure if she was before, so that’s at least an improvement! 😍

I think the label need to request it, so I think Asylum would have to make the decision on it. :/

Aqua

I SWEAR IF THEY CHOSE THE OG

Original's a 3/10, remix is a 7/10, so I'm really hoping the remix is the song that's the one that appears in the chart on Friday. :/

avatar

Aqua

they'll prob play the remix on the chart on friday like what they did with savage & say so and the first look sticks to the og

I hope 'Where Did You Go?' at least climbed up the Top 40!

what is ACR

avatar

Blank

2

AN artificial chart rule to make old tracks drop faster after their 10th week.

avatar

Piran

1

Without posting an overly complicated full paragraph on what it is, it’s basically where if a song has been on the charts for 10 or more weeks & its declined in overall performance on streaming for three consecutive weeks, then the number of streams it gets each week that counts towards the singles chart is halved. :)

avatar

Piran

It’s had an insanely successful run though, so I’m not that bothered about it as a whole. :)
