Dave's Starlight leading race to de-throne Encanto after seven weeks at the top

A surprise release to celebrate the start of the rap icon's UK tour, Starlight could topple that pesky Bruno after seven weeks at Number 1.

After seven weeks at the top of the Official Singles Chart, We Don’t Talk About Bruno’s reign at Number 1 could well be over this week thanks to Dave, who is heading for his second chart-topper with Starlight.

The track -  a surprise release to celebrate Dave’s UK tour – is currently leading the race to become the UK’s Number 1 single this week.

Luude’s Down Under also looks set to crack the Top 5 for the first time this week, up one to Number 5.

Jax Jones and MNEK could also break into the Top 10 with Where Did You Go possibly vaulting to Number 7, with reigning Number 1 We Don’t Talk About Bruno following at 9.

George Ezra’s Anyone For You continues its upward climb on the chart, this week could see it hitting another highest peak; this time one step closer to the Top 10 (11).

Following their performance on The One Show last week, Griff and Sigrid’s Head On Fire is also on track to crack the Top 40 for the first time, jumping 33 slots midweek to Number 13. It would be Griff’s 2nd Top 40 entry, as well as Sigrid’s 4th and first in three years.

This week’s highest new entry could go to ArrDee with Come & Go set to debut at Number 14 – the Brighton rapper’s possible 5th Top 40 record in less than a year.

Camila Cabello’s Bam Bam featuring Ed Sheeran is on its way to become her 15th Top 40 single, another new midweek entry at Number 16.

And finally, Tiesto and Ava Max’s The Motto could hit a new peak, rising two spots to Number 17.

The Official Singles Chart Top 100 is revealed on OfficialCharts.com every Friday at 5.45pm. Follow the Top 40 countdown live on BBC Radio 1’s Official Chart show with Scott Mills.

As much as I am not a fan of modern Rap today...something had to end kiddypower and Bruno..so what else but Brit award winner Dave.

The Singles Charts was miles better 16-25 years ago, proper pure sales and non album edits just single edit versions only which is what it should be, now since 2007 of any album or promo track counts, with 2014 added free play streaming, with no payed track, and Top Stream Playlist added and last couple years of this ridiously ACR Rules which is not official, it really make UK Single charts not really as Accurate as it could be now, i hope BBC Radio 2 have the charts soon and on prime time moring slots for best listeners, without ACR,
also drop this week ending dates, sales week matter and count.

geez and i thought we got rid of the acr haters, while it's not fair to songs we like, it is fair when it kills encanto on the 9th/10th week :)

I think it be better if BBC Radio 2 have the Current Charts, as it the Top Radio Station, we dont like ACR or free play on streams for the matter for Charts, Charts about 16-25 years ago plus was miles better it was to showcase what people are buying, paying for the most, sales only, that matter, it was the only one that counts, there was none of this album edits added, this changed from 2007 with album tracks from Digital Download and then 2014 is where Radio 1 charts went completely down hill, with the streaming way,

if thought its my view, i still listen to the charts, as im a fan but i do think the systems needs to be better more sales than free streams and also in the morning for the charts on radio 1 than afternoon for more listeners or Move the current charts to BBC Radio 2

seventeen going under and overseas are still great songs, icl, but they’ve outstayed their welcome at this point.

starlight is INCREDIBLE!!! 😻

really hope it can maintain its lead, it’s the best song i’ve heard this year so far. easy 10/10.

love seeing the sudden gains for reggae and calypso and head on fire, as well as the debut for night away.

looks like encanto got hit by acr, sad about surface pressure but bruno had its time.

anyways, COME ON DAVE!!! 🔥💕

And finally, maybe, AVA MAX can break the number 19 position this Friday and getting a new peak for THE MOTTO at the same time?!!

Glad to see MIMI WEBB getting a 3rd consecutive week in the top 10 even though HOUSE ON FIRE should have been a Top 3 by now!!

I Think Official Charts Made A Mistake As The Chart Positions That Were Announced On BBC Radio 1 Earlier Are Different To The Chart Positions That Are On This Website

i think night away (dance) is missing judging by the comments

If you want one of the charts that truly counts, in pure sales term than it the Top 100 sales charts on OCC website that really does matter (No ACR on this) the radio version does now with ACR it has done since the last couple years (Unless it get to Radio soon- The Sales Countdown Only) and then Physical Single charts next to look it amazing!! again it on OCC Website The Top 100

now i look at the site, im quite confused too. i’ve said this before, but can occ hire any proof readers?

Come & Go was #15 on the radio show. everything below that on this update should be bumped down 1 and Bad Habits shouldn't be here at all.

This will mark Sam's 14th week in the Top 10, even more excluding Christmas. Good song, but can this please get struck by ACR soon.

I really like dave as a person, I don't mind some of his stuff but not a fan of this one and would prefer peru to get the #1. seems sad for ed/ fireboy to be robbed again after so many weeks at #2 haha

CM

Christian Martin

1

Sorry, but 'peru' by Ed Sheeran shouldn't be No. 1, cause Ed Sheeran has already got enough No. 1 singles! Lost frequencies should get No. 1 instead!

'Where Did You Go?' will be an incredible addition to the Top 10 if it actually makes it on Friday! 😊

C

Conor

3

hope it can do a Head and Heart soon! defo a banger and jax jones is definitely long overdue a #1

C

CJtheDJ

5

Jax Jones has actually had a #1 before, 'I Got U' in 2014 which he was featured on.

avatar

Piran

2

I doubt it'll make it to #1, but I think it could certainly be among the contenders for at least a week or two if it keeps up the current momentum. :)

C

Conor

3

oh yeah, always forget that one!

Piran

2

Is it bad that I entirely forgot about this? 😳

hopefully overseas will go on acr next week. and i hate to say it, but Sam has defo had his time in the top 10 so hope for acr on sgu soon too

avatar

GS

3

its the best song weve had in the top 40 for ages so i hope it can last a bit longer

C

Conor

2

i agree its a banger but even on acr it should stay in the top 40 for quite a few more weeks. top 10 was becoming super stale

avatar

rayever

2

I really like overseas but I do agree, it needs to go

C

Conor

1

It's not a fave of mine, I'm not really a fan of DBE, but its one of their better ones! but yeah its had its time in the top 10!

avatar

BleeUK

overseas is already on ACR! it has been in the last 5 week as it was going up from 6 it fell to 10, it would of been in the Top 5 and possible a contender for #1

C

Conor

2

no if it was on acr it would be nowhere near the top 10 its still on scr

avatar

BleeUK

0

last week it was in the Top 3 spotify pretty much all week and streaming site high in Top 5 daily so it would of Been in Top 5 last week during SCR, so it been ACR now for the last 5 weeks.

C

Conor

1

it really hasn't been on acr. spotify doesn't completely dictate the chart, theres other factors. It doing well is on spotify is helping it stay int he top 10 and its on scr not acr

C

CJtheDJ

2

It's got streaming but it has literally no sales which sends it down the charts. Also not making an affect on Amazon either.

avatar

BleeUK

0

Over 85% of data for Radio 1 charts is streaming fake unit points, sales are added by this huge wave of streaming point systems with ACR/SCR, with playlist channels sharing online with top free spins from subscription packs data is over taking proper sales, now this is where Sales or Physical Charts showcases the one that really is more accurate, i know everyone streams music we all do it now, i do, but what should occur is where you stream or spin the song that u like about 5-10 times you should pay for that track about 79p and then that will charts and count officially, which is fair so the charts for Radio 1 should be paid sales and paid streams only drop ACR and than Radio 1 would be the most powerful charts on the planet without a shadow of doubt as most charts across the globe does airplay only!!!

avatar

BleeUK

0

yeah i agree it got streaming point than sales, i still listen to the charts, as im a fan but i do think the systems needs to be better more sales than free streams and also in the morning will do that charts for listeners or Move the current charts to BBC Radio 2

I don't mind seeing him at #1 here at all. :)

Don't get how it has become No.1 so quick out-of nowhere, record company must have something up their sleeve to get it that fast promotion, never even heard of it until today. Wonder if it will stick all week or was just a rush as a surprise release over the weekend

avatar

Piran

Dave’s always been huge on streaming & with the competition being so weak along with the current #1 going on ACR, he’ll absolutely make his lead last until Friday. :)

ACR killing off Encanto this week it looks like! Defo expecting WDTAB to stay in the top 10 for another week, but Surface Pressure and The Family Madrigal could drop quite a bit!

C

CJtheDJ

4

The Family Madrigal hasn't charted long enough to be put on ACR, only 8 weeks whereas Bruno and SP are 9 weeks old and defo on ACR!

C

Conor

3

oh last week im pretty sure was bruno and surface pressures 10th week on chart and family madrigals 9th. maybe madrigal is just outside top 20!

C

Actually nevermind, you're right about that. Sorry!

C

Not the best Dave song, but it could be worse. 🤷

Nice to see Reggae & Calypso and Down Under climbing, and Encanto finally going away though. :)
