Daft Punk spend second week at Number 1 with Random Access Memories

Daft Punk's Random Access Memories is still the UK’s most purchased album, while Laura Marling and Stooshe score big new entries!

The seemingly unstoppable rise and rise of the robots continues as Daft Punk spend a second consecutive week at Number 1 on the Official Albums Chart with Random Access Memories.

Last Sunday Random Access Memories became the fastest selling album of 2013 so far, shifting a staggering 165,000 copies during its first week on sale. Seven days on, and RAM is still the most purchased album in the UK, clocking up a further 53,000 sales this week.

Rod Stewart holds steady at Number 2 with Time, while Laura Marling scores this week’s highest new entry, and her highest charting album to date, with Once I Was An Eagle (Number 3).

This week’s Top 5 is completed by Passenger’s All The Little Lights, which climbs from Number 7 to Number 4, and Rudimental’s Home (5).

New entries

London girl group Stooshe score this week’s second highest new entry with their debut full-length, London With The Lights On (Number 8). The album features their Top 20 singles Love Me FT Gym Class HeroesTravis McCoy, Black Heart and Slip.

US rockers Alice In Chains are new in at Number 22 today The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here, while Black Star Riders, who are made up of former members of Thin Lizzy and The Almighty, debut at 25 with All Hell Breaks Lose.

This week’s Official Albums Chart new entries are completed by the deluxe re-issue of Wings’ 1976 live album, Wings Over America, at 36.

And finally, Emeli Sande’s Our Version Of Events returns to the Official Albums Chart Top 10 today at Number 10. Last Sunday the Scottish singer/songwriter’s record-breaking debut album dropped out of the Top 10 for the first time since it was released in February 2012.
