Daft Punk’s Get Lucky score second biggest selling single of the year!

Daft Punk’s tidal wave of momentum remains unchallenged this week as Get Lucky is now threatening to become the UK’s biggest selling single of the year!

After breaking the half a million sales barrier earlier this week, Daft Punk’s Get Lucky adds yet another 114,000 sales this week bringing its tally to date up to 606,000 in just over four weeks, and in doing so overtakes Justin Timberlake’s Mirrors to become the second biggest seller of 2013 so far.

Get Lucky is now only 19,000 copies behind 2013's biggest seller so far – Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’ Thrift Shop.

Get Lucky, which also features N.E.R.D main man Pharrell Williams and Chic guitarist Nile Rodgers, is taken from Daft Punk’s upcoming fourth studio album, Random Access Memories, which will be released in the UK tomorrow.

Brighton singer/songwriter Mike Rosenberg’s alter-ego, Passenger, climbs for the seventh week in a row with Let Her Go, up one place to Number 2 today. Meanwhile former Disney star and current X Factor US judge Demi Lovato claims her highest charting UK single to date. Heart Attack (Number 3) is the first track to be released from her upcoming fourth album, Demi.

The Official Singles Chart Top 5 is completed by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’ Can’t Hold Us FT Ray Dalton (4) and Rudimental’s Waiting All Night (5).

New entries

Wretch 32 commands his fourth Top 10 single with Blackout FT Shakka (6), while Sub Focus, AKA British producer Nick Douwma, score his highest charting single to date and first Top 10 hit with Endorphins FT Alex Clare.

Meanwhile, Stooshe bag their third Top 20 hit in a row with Slip (12), while we welcome 19-year-old singer/songwriter and fave of One Direction’s Harry Styles, Tich, to the Official Singles Chart with her Top 40 debut Dumb (23).

The week’s highest climber comes courtesy of Olly Murs who unveiled the video for new single Dear Darlin’ earlier this week, the track taken from Right Place Right Time and is up 83 places to Number 18.

And finally, Denmark may have swept the board at last night’s Eurovision Song Contest, but it’s our very own UK representative Bonnie Tyler who finishes further ahead on the Official Singles Chart. Believe In Me breaks into the Top 100 at Number 93, while Denmark’s Emmelie De Forest’s winning song Only Teardrops (99) trails six places behind.

Sales for this week’s chart cut off at midnight last night, and the Official Charts Company expects that both tracks will climb further as the week goes on.

Last year’s Eurovision Song Contest winner, Loreen’s Euphoria, peaked at Number 3.
