Cheryl reveals her new album is nearly finished and she wrote every track with Girls Aloud's Nicola Roberts

It looks like new music from Cheryl could be with us sooner rather than later, as the star has revealed her new album is "pretty much finished".

Cheryl has taken a break from music after welcoming her son Bear with One Direction's Liam Payne. Her last album, Only Human, was released in 2014. 

As well as working with Naughty Boy on the collection, the singer has teamed up with fellow Girls Aloud star Nicola Roberts, co-writing every song together.

“Nicola and I wrote every track together," Cheryl told The Sun. It’s been great working with one of my best friends, but I’m really proud of the album and excited for people to hear the new music.

“It’s pretty much finished. At this stage we’re deciding what will be the first single. We’re choosing between about three songs, but that’s quite a nice problem to have. Thankfully I’m not looking at it, saying, ‘Oh God, all this work and we don’t have a hit record’. I think we do."

Thank goodness, because Cheryl has a strong record when it comes to chart success; to date she has five Number 1 singles and two chart-topping albums. Take a look at Cheryl's Official Chart history here.
