Cher Lloyd and Florence Welch could be on course for their second Number 1 single and album, respectively, according to today’s Official Chart Update.

In an incredibly tight race In the Official Singles Chart this week, X Factor 2010 contestant Cher Lloyd today nudges into the lead over last week’s chart toppers Professor Green ft. Emeli Sande, but by less than 1000 copies.  Following in the footsteps of Pro Green, the Malvern-born singer and rapper performed new single 'With Ur Love' ft. Mike Posner, taken from forthcoming album 'Sticks And Stones', on last Sunday’s X Factor results show.  It remains to be seen whether Cher can hold on to the top spot ahead of Sunday.

Rihanna’s 'We Found Love' ft. Calvin Harris holds firm for a second week running in the Number 3 spot, marking the track’s fifth consecutive week in the Top 3.  Closely on Rihanna’s tail is Labrinth and Tinie Tempah’s collaboration 'Earthquake' (4), with Maroon 5’s 'Moves Like Jagger' holding on for their 13th consecutive week inside the Top 5.

Today’s highest climber inside the Top 40 comes courtesy of Katy Perry ft. Kanye West.  Their track 'ET' climbs a staggering 90 places to Number 27 after its performance on Saturday’s X Factor show by girl group Little Mix (formally known asRhythmix).

Over in the Official Albums Chart, it’s looking good for Brit Award winners Florence & The Machine, whose second studio album, 'Ceremonials' is the highest new entry in today’s Update, taking up pole position at the summit.  The Paul Epworth-produced release is the follow-up to quadruple platinum debut album, 'Lungs', which peaked at Number 1 in January 2009.

Last week’s chart topper, Coldplay’s 'Mylo Xyloto', moves to Number 2 in today’s Update after breaking an Official Chart record last week for the highest number of digital albums sold in a one week period. Find out more about that chart record here.

Professor Green’s second studio album, 'At Your Inconvenience', enters today’s Update at Number 3, whilst 'National Treasures', the impressive singles compilation from Welsh rockers Manic Street Preachers, enters today at 7.  The Official Charts Company can confirm that the Manic Street Preachers have the highest number of consecutive Top 40 hit singles of any British rock band of the last 20 years (33 hits); Status Quo hold the record for greatest number of consecutive Top 40 rock singles in history with 36.  You can watch what the Manics’ James Dean Bradfield has to say about National Treasures here.

Elsewhere in the Official Albums Chart, U2 celebrate the 20th anniversary of 'Achtung! Baby' with a re-release of the classic album. Originally released in November 1991, the album returns to the Top 20 in today’s Update at 19.
