A charity band, formed to help combat loneliness among older people, looks set to enter the Official Singles Chart this weekend.

The Anchor Community Band consists of more than 300 people across England, who have recorded the single See Yourself for national charity Contact The Elderly.

The organisation is dedicated to tackling loneliness among the elderly, and organises monthly tea parties for those aged 75+ within local communities all over England.

Based on today’s Official Charts Company sales flash, See Yourself is currently on course to enter at Number 88 on the Official Singles Chart, but The Anchor Community Band need your help to reach their goal of breaking into the Top 40.

You can see the video recorded for the charity single below.

Band Musical Director Carl Martin said:

“Rehearsing for this song over seven weeks with lots of older people has been such an amazing experience. It’s a really powerful song because the words are telling younger people that older generations are exactly the same as them, with just a bit more life experience. It’s now time to go out and buy the song to raise money for a fantastic cause and help us get into the charts!”

Denise, who is a grandmother of four and member of the Anchor Community Band, said:

“We feel very proud that we have contributed to a record which will hopefully raise lots of money for a worthwhile charity. We’re aiming to get into the Top 40!”

Production cost of the single has been funded by Legal & General , and all income from sales will go to Contact The Elderly .

Keith Arscott , Director at Contact the Elderly, added:

“Over the past four months, Anchor has been working tremendously hard and collaborating with Contact the Elderly to get this innovative project off the ground. The money raised will be invaluable in helping us to extend our vital lifeline of friendship to more isolated older people. We are extremely grateful to Anchor”
