If taking on Lord Voldemort wasn’t enough, today sees Harry Potter locked in an epic battle with the Transformers in the race to the top of the Official Video Chart!

According to today’s Official Charts Company data, the third instalment of Michael Bay’s reboot of the Transformers franchise, ‘Transformers – Dark Of The Moon’, is in pole position. Since its release on Monday (November 28), it has sold a staggering 382,000 copies on DVD and Blu-ray in the UK which is more than the rest of the Top 5 combined. However the final chapter in the boy wizard’s long-running saga, ‘Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2’, which was released today (Friday, December 2) is expected to sell over a million copies in its first day of sale alone.

Online retailers HMV.com and Amazon have issued press releases stating that pre-orders for the title have broken records set by ‘Twilight – New Moon’ and ‘Mamma Mia!’, respectively, while HMV opened a number of their high street stores up and down the country at 7am this morning to cope with the demand.

The retail chain have also predicted that ‘Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2’ is likely to be a top seller throughout the Christmas period.
