Calvin Harris reclaims the Official Albums Chart Number 1 spot with 18 Months, while Emeli Sande’s Our Version Of Events breaks a new chart record.

Emeli Sande caps off an amazing breakthrough year today by smashing Official Chart records. Not only can Sande lay claim to 2012’s biggest selling album with the million-selling Our Version Of Events, but the Scottish singer/songwriter has now delivered the most number of consecutive Top 10 weeks for a solo debut album in UK chart history.

Sande is the first solo artist to notch up an unbroken run of 47 weeks inside the Official Albums Chart Top 10 with a debut album from release, and only the second act in history to achieve such a feat behind The Beatles, who scored 62 consecutive weeks in the Top 10 with their 1963 debut Please Please Me.

Our Version Of Events has sold an impressive 1.43 million copies in the UK since its release a little under a year ago.

Meanwhile, Calvin Harris returns to the summit of the Official Albums Chart with 18 Months. Releasedin October of last year, 18 Months debuted at Number 1 on the Official Albums Chart, giving the Scottish DJ and producer his second chart-topping album.  18 Months has now spawned seven Top 20 singles, with Harris adding his midas touch to Number 1 hits We Found Love with Rihanna and Sweet Nothing with Florence Welch.
