"What you so boring for? It's like talking to a door..."

It might be a lyric from her ridiculously-infectious new single, but we can confirm that Caity Baser is the polar opposite of boring company.

With Pretty Boys breaking into the Official Top 40 for the first time last week and Sigala, Mae Muller and Stefflon Don team-up Feels This Good serving all the makings of a spring/summer smash, Caity's undoubtedly one of UK pop's most promising talents right now.

We caught up with her to talk taking over For You pages,

Caity! Congratulations on scoring your first-ever Official Top 40 single...

I'm obsessed, it's so exciting. I'm so gassed! It just feels like all the hard work, all the tears; everything's been worth it.

All my friends were like 'what the f***?' I've had all my friends' parents calling me as well saying 'I've just heard you on the radio!'

Pretty Boys seems inescapable right now, it's taking over our For You page...

Good! I hope you never get away from it. That's what I hope and dream for you.

How did the song come about, then?

Pretty Boys was the only song from the EP that was totally new; I made it in November. I recorded it, and I listened to the rough demo every single day. When I like a song so much, I blast it every day.

I just had a feeling about this song. I had that same feeling with X&Y and Friendly Sex. I just knew I had to release it.

Are you taking a break from writing now the EP's out there, or do you feel creative constantly?

I'm still writing all day, every day. It's the best. As soon as it was released I was like 'okay, the EP's out, what now?' Everyone was like 'chill!' I'm just in the studio figuring out what's next.

What are your biggest sources of inspiration musically at the moment?

Honestly, just my life. I go out and meet people and experience life to the fullest all the time. That's what I write about. And if every something embarrassing or annoying happens to me, which is a lot of the time because I'm an idiot, I just see it as good content.

It's character building, right? I take something that mortifies, angers or embarrasses me and turn it into something good - like a song.

We love that your music's so personal to you, yet somehow pretty much universally relatable...

Yeah, I honestly don't care. Nothing embarrasses me. I have no filter.

What does the rest of the year look like for you?

I'm going to LA for the first time this weekend to perform at a label showcase. And venbee's in LA at the same time as me; she's my girl, I love her so much! I think we're going to meet up, which will just be chaos because we're two bundles of ADHD. We met at the BRITs and we were just ridiculous all night long.

Watch out, LA! Beyond that, your diary must be packed?

It is! I'm so lucky, I'm playing every festival I've ever wanted to do this summer. Except Glastonbury, but I'm still praying I somehow get it. I'd love to play Glastonbury.

I'd rather be busy than bored. I haven't actually been bored for ages, which is great news!

Now, the age-old question. Who's your absolute dream collaboration you want to manifest into existence?

I'd really, really love to work with Doja Cat. Imagine how amazing that'd be, her cheeky little lyrics and me with mine. Also, I love Katy Perry so much. She's the best. The other day I was literally sat on the floor, bawling my eyes out to Firework.

Oh, we've all been there, babes.
