Britney Spears has teased details about her upcoming single and ninth studio album.

The superstar is gearing up to release her new album - her first in three years - in the coming months, and hinted that the record will be less "poppy" than her recent efforts.

"It's very exciting," she told E! News. "I've been working on this project for a year and a half now, almost two years so it really means a lot to me. It's my baby."

Describing the sound of the collection, she revealed: "It's a little melodic, a little more not so poppy. It's kind of chill. Very chill."
