Tommy Cannon has thanked fans as he and Bobby Ball's duet Together We'll Be OK reached the Official Chart last week - and is still climbing.

Fans are flocking to the track after it was announced that the comedian, actor and singer died aged 76 last Wednesday after testing positive for coronavirus.

The track was the pair's theme song from their Cannon And Ball Show, written by Nigel Hess in 1978, who composed many famous TV songs including themes for Dangerfield, Hetty Wainthrop Investigates, Ballykissangle, Last of the Summer Wine and New Tricks.

Tommy thanked fans 'from the bottom of his heart' after the song entered the Official Singles Downloads Chart at Number 53 last Friday (Oct. 30). Downloads of the song continue to climb, with the track appearing at Number 17 on today's sales flash of the downloads-only chart (Nov. 2).

The Cannon And Ball Show ran for 12 years, ending in 1988. Bobby Ball landed several acting gigs after the series, including Last Of The Summer Wine between 2005-2008. In 2005 he also appeared on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!.

Last week the entertainment industry flocked to pay their respects to Bobby following the news of his death.

"It is with great personal sadness that on behalf of Yvonne Ball, and the family, and Tommy Cannon, I announce that Bobby Ball passed away at Blackpool Victoria Hospital on the 28th October 2020 approximately 21:30," the official statement said.

"Bobby had been taken to the hospital for tests as he started with breathing problems. At first it was thought to be a chest infection but a test proved positive for Covid-19.

"His wife Yvonne said the hospital and staff could not have been more wonderful, as they were outstanding in their care of duty and they did everything possible for him and she cannot praise them enough."
