Billie Eilish has been confirmed as the first headliner for Glastonbury 2022 - making history in the process.

When Eilish does take to the Pyramid Stage next year, she'll become the iconic festival's youngest-ever headline act.

The news was first teased via her Instagram story, on a post which included the pop singer grinning whilst wearing a Glastonbury hoodie.

Festival co-organiser Emily Eavis then confirmed the rumours, saying she "couldn't be happier" to announce Eilish as the first headliner of 2022.

"This feels like the perfect way for us to return," she said, "and I cannot wait!”

Eilish previously made her Glastonbury debut in 2019, in support of her first album When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?, which debuted at Number 1 on the Official Albums Chart and also contained breakout single Bad Guy - a Number 2 hit on the Official Singles Chart.

Most recently, Eilish released her sophomore record, Happier Than Ever, which became her second UK Number 1 album earlier this year. The title track of the LP also became her eighth UK Top 10 single, so far peaking at Number 4 on the Official Singles Chart.

Last year Eilish also broke records with her Number 1 single No Time To Die, the theme for the new James Bond film for the same name. With its release, she became the youngest-ever artist to contribute a Bond theme song in the franchise's history

Weren't two members of Ash younger when they headlined the Pyramid stage?

That's an upsetting way to end a Glastonbury night. The crowd is gonna leave the venue with voids in their souls. I'd rather have Coldplay or Dave (I don't like him but whatever) or even Lil Nas X.

Edit: forgot Coldplay already headlined, so it won't be them of course
