Ariana Grande charging to Number 1 for a third week with thank u, next

James Arthur & Anne-Marie could claim this week's highest entry.

After claiming 2018’s biggest week of combined sales last week, Ariana Grande is set for a third week at Number 1.

thank u, next has a lead of 10,000 units on today’s Official Chart Update, and is already Ariana’s longest-reigning chart topper on the Official Singles Chart; both of her previous Number 1s Problem and Bang Bang spent just a week at the summit.

New entries and high climbers

P!nk’s A Million Dreams is the biggest Top 40 climber at today’s midweek mark; spurred on by the release of its parent album The Greatest Showman: Reimagined, it vaults 28 places to Number 8, potentially earning the US vocalist a landmark 20th Top 10 hit.

Also from the all-star album celebrating the musical movie, James Arthur & Anne-Marie are set for biggest new entry status at Number 13 with Rewrite the Stars, and Panic! At The Disco’s The Greatest Show may enter the Top 40 for the first time at 27.

Elsewhere, Ava Max’s Sweet But Psycho climbs 14 rungs to Number 18, Strip from Little Mix featuring Sharaya J is new at 20, and Ellie Goulding & Diplo are up five to Number 25 with Close To Me ft. Swae Lee.

Clean Bandit’s Baby ft. Marina and Luis Fonsi could hit a new peak of 29 on Friday’s final standings, and George Ezra’s Hold My Girl may impact the Top 40 for the first time at 34.
