A Star Is Born's movie soundtrack to feature 17 original songs sung by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper

Lady Gaga's long-awaited movie debut A Star Is Born is just around the corner, and details of the film's soundtrack have been revealed.

Released the same day as the movie, A Star is Born's soundtrack arrives on October 5. The collection includes 17 original songs, one Edith Piaf cover and an extended version of I'll Never Love Again, plus 15 additional 'dialogue tracks' that "take you on a journey that mirrors the experience of seeing the film".

Snippets from two of the new tracks, Shallow and Maybe It's Time, can be heard in the flick's official trailer below.

All of the new material is performed by either Lady Gaga, her co-star (and the movie's director) Bradley Cooper, or both. Gaga and Bradley both have production and songwriting credits across the album, while the likes of Diane Warren, Julia Michaels, Jason Isbell and Mark Ronson are listed as contributors.

Diane previously worked with Gaga on Til It Happens to You from The Hunting Ground documentary, while Mark Ronson executive produced Gaga's latest album Joanne.

The 2018 version of A Star Is Born is the fourth version released. Originally starring Janet Gaynor and Fredric March in 1937, two musical versions - 1954's led by Judy Garland and James Mason, and 1976's rockier take featuring Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson - have been released since, the latter of which topped the Official Albums Chart.

Music from the movies has been hugely successful in 2018 thanks to The Greatest Showman and Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again's Motion Picture Cast Recordings, which have spent a combined 25 weeks at Number 1 on the Official Albums Chart. Will A Star Is Born be the next major cinematic album?
