Stormzy scores the Official Chart double as Heavy Is The Head and Own It both claim Number 1

After a busy week beefing with Wiley and touring the UK, Stormzy claims the top spots on both the Official Singles and Album Charts.

Congratulations to Stormzy, who scores the Official Chart double, taking the Number 1 spot on both the Official Singles and Albums Chart.

The rapper’s second record Heavy Is The Head climbs 2 to 1 to secure its first appearance at the summit, while Own It holds on to the singles top spot for a second week. It’s been a busy week for Stormzy: he exchanged two diss tracks with Wiley, travelled across the UK to sign copies of his latest album for fans, and rocked some fancy slippers for a BBC Breakfast News interview.

Pulling off the Official Chart double is no mean feat - 2019 saw just two acts manage it: Ariana Grande with Thank U, Next (album) and 7 Rings/Break Up With Your Girlfriend, I’m Bored (singles), and Ed Sheeran with No.6 Collaborations Project and Beautiful People (single). Look back at every act to land the Official Chart double ever.

Heavy Is The Head debuted at Number 2 in its first week of release last month and now matches the peak of his chart-topping debut Gang Signs & Prayer. View Stormzy's complete Official Chart history.

Elsewhere on this week’s Official Albums Chart, two former chart-toppers rebound up the Top 10: Tom Walker’s What A Time To Be Alive lifts two places to Number 8, and Hollywood’s Bleeding by Post Malone hops five spots to Number 9.

US rapper and musician Roddy Ricch hits a new high with his latest album Please Excuse Me For Being Antisocial, up 23 places to 17, and the late US singer Gene Pitney makes his first Top 40 entry in 19 years with retrospective Gold, new at 30.

As well as Stormzy holding on to the top spot, Justin Bieber scores the week’s highest new entry with Yummy, earning the star his 18th Top 10 and 45th Top 40 hit overall.

Lewis Capaldi bounces back in to the Top 10 with Someone You Loved, up eight places to Number 7, and The Weeknd’s Blinding Lights lifts one spot to Number 10 – the Canadian’s eighth Top 10 single.

Further down, Roddy Ricch reaches a new peak with The Box, vaulting 24 places to 16, and Mist is new at 35 with Savage, the rapper’s fourth Top 40 song.

Fake No.1 … yet again!

Still no explanation regarding the Mariah issue... SMH, these charts are ridiculous and they think we're stupid

Presumably you are referring to how a non-existent video of a cover version of her song was ranked higher than her video in the video streaming chart. Even if both videos had been counted as Mariah's, she still did not have enough 'sales' to overcome Ellie's song due to ACR, so while it is a mess it doesn't change the end result...

It totally does! She had 4,69 million views on YouTube alone that week (when the new 'Make my wish come true' version premiered), according to YouTube UK chart, that were not credited by OCC. Those 4,69 million would equate to 4236 more points overall, reaching 78312 sales. Given that Ellie had 78193, Mariah would be number 1 even with ACR halving her audio and video streaming points.

Ok, so you are not talking about the cover version, but another version of the video instead. Not to give the OCC an out but perhaps the You Tube UK chart and the OCC have a different criteria on what counts as a view. Alternatively perhaps You Tube didn't pass the correct information on to the OCC. 4.69 million views would be twice what Last Christmas (the no.1 on video streams) is reported as having from all video streaming sites.

645 video streaming units were given to Mariah, so you'd need to subtract this from the total 4236 points making her total 77667 which is less than Ellie had. So even if this had been included she wouldn't have made it. This does of course assume that youtube is the only video streamer that counts in the UK., which it probably isn't.

Why should they be subtracted? The 645 points probably come from other video streaming sites! Why would YouTube UK report only around 700k instead of the 4,69 million?

Of course there's the problem. You say they probably came from other sites and I say perhaps they have different criteria. It's all speculation as we don't know exactly how the OCC data is compiled. Another possibility (though unlikely) is that the YouTube UK streams were associated with only a few users as I believe the OCC limit the number of streams that can be included from an individual each week- again speculation.....
Incidently do you know how many YouTube UK streams were reported for Last Christmas that week?
We all know that that week was really Mariah's 3rd week at no. 1 (following 2 non-consecutive last christmas), even if the official record doesn't say so.
This would also suggest that she extended the streaming record rather than lose it to Wham....

Exactly, that's why we need them to clarify all of this. YouTube UK reported 2,56 million views for Last Christmas, so yes: Mariah would have had the streaming record instead of Wham!

3rd consecutive week for a fake ACR-induced no.1. That could be a record......

How is it a fake ACR?

The biggest selling and streaming song this week is, as last week, Dance Monkey, but because Dance Monkey has its streams halved due to ACR it isn't no.1. Therefore Stormzy is a fake no.1 (so far) due to ACR. Ellie's track was only the 11th most bought/streamed song the week she was no.1 again due to ACR.

I get what you are saying but if they didn’t have the acr thing then people would just complain about having the same number 1 all the time

they would but at least it would be an honest chart based on sales/streams rather than on rules which manipulate the chart.

Eh, at least Stormzy's got the #1 single & album this week, along with 'Blinding Lights' going Top 10 in the former chart!

They're literally the only positives I can say about today...
