Another pointless chart week. 3 Eminem album tracks in the Top 10 Singles Chart. Which i believe are then counted again towards his Album Chart position. Only 2 other New Entries in the Top 40. Its like some Niche underground chart. Sign of the times when the best song on the Top 40 is Baby Shark at Number 34. I want to listen to credible songs by credible artists / bands etc.... Not endless nobodies, grime and dropbeats . Bring back the charts!!!

I agree 100 percent, Paul. Streaming is the worst thing that ever happened to the chart but that's progress. I hate the fact album tracks are still eligible for the 'singles' chart. I dunno why the OCC even uses the word 'singles'. It's as prehistoric a concept as a dinosaur!

My thoughts & observations on the UK charts as always…

- ‘Promises’ by Calvin Harris & Sam Smith is the new #1 on the singles chart! It becomes Calvin’s tenth #1 & Sam’s seventh!

- Calvin Harris becomes just the eighth artist ever to have a double-digit number of chart-toppers! The others are: Elvis Presley, The Beatles, Cliff Richard, Westlife, Madonna, The Shadows & Take That. Calvin also sets a new chart record tonight, as he is now the artist with the most #1s this decade with eight!

- ‘Promises’ also holds at #1 in the airplay chart for a second consecutive week.

- ‘Girls Like You’ by Maroon 5 ft Cardi B is back atop the YouTube chart once again. This past week, it was viewed 3.36 million times, down 5.4% from the week before.

- EMINEM – THE RINGER (#4)
For the highest debuting song here, I’d thought I’d have a lot more to say about it than what I’m going to, but I really don’t. Eminem’s rapid-fire approach certainly shows he has the energy in his flows, but none of that is backed up by the underwhelming production. There’s 1,423 words here, which seems way too much content to cram in & it can’t really be absorbed by me either. Not the best start sadly, very light 5/10.

- EMINEM FT JOYNER LUCAS – LUCKY YOU (#6)
I’ll say here that Eminem & Joyner Lucas collaborate well here & the former’s wordplay is clever. He calls out some of the problems with hip-hop/rap music today & I’d argue some of those points are valid, but again, this album is full of insulting other artists & it’s not even in a joking way. The instrumentation seems dull once again, showing that the issues on ‘Revival’ haven’t really been solved here. For me, still just average, solid 5/10.

- EMINEM – FALL (#9)
Honestly, this final ‘Kamikaze’ track might be the favourite of the three that charted here today & it’s probably mostly because it’s the only one that got an official video. The song’s production is a pulsing creation of Mike Will Made-It’s keyboard alongside the very raspy backing vocals from an uncredited Justin Vernon. Eminem delivers an aggressive diss track for anyone who has questioned him as a great rapper & while there’s no doubt he has been a massive name in rap over the past couple of decades, this album as a whole makes me feel that he’s taking critical backlash too seriously & he should go back to what made him big in the first place. Overall, this is still decent, but I know Eminem has been capable of a lot better. Solid 6/10 from me.

- LSD FT SIA, DIPLO & LABRINTH – THUNDERCLOUDS (#22)
I’m surprised we’ve not had a hit from this trio sooner, given how big each of them are as solo artists. That said, it was worth the wait, because this is mostly fairly good! My favourite part is probably Diplo’s production, especially giving a dreamy sentimental tempo with those soulful guitars blended in. It strays away from the electronic production that we’ve seen so far from this group, as the lyrics mainly provide the message that love easily counteracts the bad times in a relationship. The only problems here are that while Sia & Labrinth bring enjoyable vocals, they seem less engaged in this than I would’ve expected & don’t have a lot of chemistry. On that note, I’m thinking a light 7/10.

- DEAN LEWIS – BE ALRIGHT (#35)
I could already see this becoming a much bigger hit, given how well it’s doing elsewhere in the world & the fact that streaming has recently skyrocketed for this in the UK! The other reason is how much I’m reminded of the Ed Sheeran vocal style here from Dean Lewis, just with a gentle Australian accent! Dean Lewis also captures that feeling of betrayal effortlessly here with the stripped back instrumentation, allowing the listener to connect with the emotional weight of this break-up ballad. Then the chorus swells out of nowhere with the message of hope & that pain doesn’t last for ever. This track is going to get one of my highest ratings so far… solid 9/10!

- BAZZI FT CAMILA CABELLO – BEAUTIFUL (#36)
I’ve always been a little disappointed that ‘Mine’ was never a big hit over here in the same way it was in America, given how popular the song was on social media, but ‘Beautiful’ charting makes up for that entirely! Yeah, the production does remain fairly consistent throughout outside of the subtle beats & harp strums closing the song. The laid-back instrumental highlights both artists’ vocals & the song’s message, even if in the latter case it can get a little explicit at times. That said, what really won me over is how well this works as a duet, particularly in the amount of chemistry Bazzi & Camila have here! They’ve both impressed me again; light 9/10 for this one!

- AJ TRACEY – LO(V/S)ER (#38)
I’ve only heard this song once (when it was played on the chart show earlier) & I’m a bit mixed on it overall, sadly I don’t enjoy it as much as I did ‘Butterflies’. On one hand, AJ Tracey can clearly handle more complex flows within grime & trap music, as well as change between a jolly & intense delivery, so that proves he’s at least diverse. That said, I’ve heard that same beat a thousand times in this genre before & the clanging at the start of the song sounds incredibly out of tune. In terms of content, AJ Tracey is travelling through Cuba admiring the beautiful women & smoking their cigars. Overall, this certainly isn’t bad, but it’s not a song I see really growing on me. So… very light 6/10 for now.

- On the albums chart, Eminem secures his ninth consecutive #1 with ‘Kamikaze’, as it opens with 55,000 combined sales, which is three times as many than its closest competition. 30,000 of these came from streaming, giving it the fifth biggest debut in that metric since streaming counted towards the chart.

- Eminem makes Official Chart history as he now has more successive #1 albums than any other act (he previously tied with Led Zeppelin & ABBA).

- The rest of the Top 5 is: ‘Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again’ [soundtrack] (1-2), ‘The Greatest Showman’ [soundtrack] (2-3), ‘Sweetener’ by Ariana Grande (3-4) & ‘Joy Is An Act Of Resistance’ by Idles (debuts at #5). Kind of a coincidence that Eminem managed to dethrone ABBA twice in one chart!

- Looking ahead to next week, these songs could enter the Top 40 for the first time: ‘Electricity’ by Silk City & Dua Lipa ft Diplo & Mark Ronson, ‘Just Got Paid’ by Sigala & Ella Eyre ft Meghan Trainor & French Montana, ‘Back & Forth’ by MK, Jonas Blue & Becky Hill, Happy Now’ by Zedd & Elley Duhe & maybe even more.

Hey Piran! This has to be one of my favourite charts for quite a long time; almost every single new entry here gets a strong 9/10 or light 10/10 from me! The only exceptions are 'LO(V/S)ER', which gets a light 8/10, and 'Thunderclouds', which gets a light 7/10. I also absolutely love that Eminem got 3 simultaneous debuts in the Top 10, which I'm pretty sure is the first time this has happened since '÷' got 7 debuts in the region (EDIT: I forgot about 'Scorpion', which also achieved this), and that he breaks the record for the most consecutive #1 albums! 'Kamikaze' itself is a solid 9/10 for me, making it my 4th favourite album of the year so far, and 6th overall.

At the current rate all 3 Eminem songs will still be in the Top 10 next week, though I don't know how well that'll hold up. Today, 'Lucky You' climbed ahead of 'The Ringer' on Spotify, with the former at #3 and the latter at #4, so I'm sure that 'Lucky You' will be there next week, and I think is even quite likely to climb into the Top 5. 'Fall' is also very likely to be there next week, since it's by far the best selling from the album and is climbing on streaming, currently at #8 on Spotify (it's also at #2 on YouTube, behind only Machine Gun Kelly's 'Rap Devil' Eminem diss, which is currently exclusive to YouTube). 'The Ringer' is the only one I'm not sure about, but it is still at #4 on Spotify and #1 on Apple Music so I think it'll most likely make it.

I think that 'Kamikaze' will most likely be #1 next week as well, since all 11 full tracks from the album are still in the Top 41 on Spotify (with 9 in the Top 30), they're all in the Top 31 on Apple Music (with 8 in the Top 20), and it's still at #1 on iTunes as well. The lack of a physical release could hurt it, but I doubt it'll be enough to make it drop unless streaming and digital sales also fall significantly throughout the week.

'Promises' should be the #1 next week with its decent lead on most services, but we're yet to see streaming figures for today so that could change. I do think that 'Lucky You' could have a shot at #1 in the UK since it's #1 on Spotify globally and is still climbing on Spotify in the UK, but I doubt it will be next week. It could also start to fall well before it really gets a shot at #1, though it seems like it and 'Fall' will at least have pretty good longevity in the Top 10. It's definitely good to see Eminem having great longevity, considering most of his recent tracks have been extremely front-loaded, with the exception of 'River' which was carried by Ed.

Hey Piran! I definitely haven't liked this week's new entries as much as the others that have entered the chart over the past few weeks, highest rating here would be 8/10 for Thunderclouds (which has grown on me a lot since it was first released) and even less for the others. It's frustrating as there's things about the other new entries that I really like, but there's just a few things holding them back from them getting another listen from me. Be Alright in particular is one I just can't listen to, I like most of the song but I find Dean Lewis' vocals pretty grating to be honest :(

The Kamikaze album tracks are definitely much better compared to what we got from Revival in my opinion, but they are still nowhere near the quality that Eminem is capable of, one that I think was last seen in Mathers LP 2 sadly. I like the production on the Kamikaze tracks a lot more than Revival's generally drab beats, however Em's weak lyrics and occasionally annoying voice remain.

I'm really hoping Electricity can have a Top 20 debut in it's first week, it's gotten off to a great start on downloads and will soon be creeping further up the Spotify chart thanks to it's high placing on the very popular Hot Hits UK playlist. This song has been more instant for me than One Kiss was, and I'm really happy Dua is moving into making more dance-influenced music, her voice fits it perfectly. There's an interview with her somewhere in which she mentions this is going to be the sound of her second album, which I am definitely hyped for if that's the case!

Eminem is completely talentless. Just white man rap. He had a few decent song like 'The Real Slim Shady' and 'Without Me' but that was ages back.The guy should retire. We don't want his lame rap in the charts. The Ringer is full of 'hate women' lyrics, anyway. Pathetic. This week's top ten is the worst I've ever heard. It's beyond awful. Utter ****.

Do young streamers know how old Eminem is? He's 45! He's middle aged and he's still trying to be down with the kids. The guy should grow up and start acting (or singing) his age. I dunno which is worse, Eminem pretending he's still relevant or teens and 20 somethings of 2018 thinking he's cool and relevant. NEWS FLASH kids, the guy is almost fifty. He's about as hip as your grandma's hip replacement. :P Sweet jeez. He's embarrassing!

I'm pretty sure Jay-Z, Dr. Dre, and Justin Timberlake have been charting for way longer than Eminem. They're all still popular today. , Dr. Dre got a #1 hit after he turned 50.

Eminem can keep going. I'd rather have him at the top, instead of Drake.

Yeah, Eminem - keep swearing and ranting and showing the worst sides of human nature. What a sorry state the chart has become. I'm not blaming the OCC, they show what's popular even if streaming 'sales' is a bogus concept. Anyway... this is my final week following the chart. This week's top 10 is offensive to my ears. The worst I've ever heard and I've been following the chart since the early 1980s. Enough is enough. Just awful music. I've quit being a chart fan. GOODBYE!

Outside of the Eminem tracks, I actually liked most of this week's Top 10.
Regarding 'Kamikaze', it's definitely Eminem's worst album to date; his flow & delivery is still very good, but he doesn't need to diss critics & fellow rappers at his age & the production issues from 'Revival' haven't gone away.
The best time to retire for him would be when he stops getting #1 albums, since albums is most of what he's getting money in at the moment & he's 45 I think.

I'm very glad to hear that 'Thunderclouds' grew on you a lot, but it's a shame to hear that you don't like 'Be Alright', considering I thought of his vocals as a cross between Ed Sheeran's & Shawn Mendes', just with an Australian accent.
I agree that 'Kamikaze' is nothing compared to his earlier work in terms of quality & I'd say it was even worse than 'Revival' as a whole, which is a shame considering how excited I was for a new Eminem album!
'Electricity' should have a Top 20 debut next week, maybe even Top 10 if it picks up more on Spotify & YouTube throughout the week. The song really has potential to be a future #1!

I'm pleased that you liked all the new Top 40 entries this week, as did I, except for 'Lucky You' & 'The Ringer'.
'Promises' is continuing to grow in both sales & streaming thankfully, so it seems very likely it'll still be at the top next week. I also think 'All I Am' has a shot at the Top 10 on Friday as well, since the hype of Jess Glynne's upcoming second album is fuelling the song's sales & it was climbing back on Spotify anyway.
I wonder if it'll be possible for a song to debut that's exclusive to YouTube. I remember 'All About That Bass' was the first song to enter the charts on streams alone.
