Download the single 'American Idiot' by Green Day and send your protest
to the world in the form of a song during Trump's ill-fated visit to
England.

no, do not do this, this could knock 3 Lions off course.

Yes do if you are indeed an idiot, who is brainwashed by the mainstream medias' constant propaganda. Or alternately welcome the one man who stands firm against the tyranny of the globalists and their diabolical agenda and download 'Holding out for a hero' by Bonnie Tyler. Plus dear old Marcus looks like a serial killer.

Enjoy the summer sunshine with this song. :)

No full review this week as I just got back from a trip, but it's cool to see 'Shotgun' get a second week at #1! :)
Drake's new album was just average to me as expected, but 'Don't Matter To Me' is definitely my favourite track from it so far, so I really like seeing it as the top debut of the week!
Regarding '3 Lions', now that England have made it through to the semi-finals, I think it's going at least Top 10 next week, maybe even Top 5.
It looks like 'American Idiot' could make a return next week too, haha!

Hey Piran! It's impressive that George Ezra managed to hold off Drake, as while Scorpion and Don't Matter To Me still did massive numbers on streaming, I think the new chart rules and pure sales helped George that little bit more. Shotgun was doing well on video streams last time I checked, and the adjusted streaming ratios for premium and free users maybe came into play a bit here as well.

I was hoping Don't Matter To Me would go to #1 next week, but this is looking much less likely. Shotgun has already overtaken it on Spotify, and then of course there's also Three Lions now! It's doing incredibly well on streaming, sales, and video views- I haven't checked the YouTube chart for it yet, but it's done almost 15k on sales and over 900k on streams!

The thing is though, the new rules are going to hamper it a bit- any song that hasn't been released in the past 3 years is automatically on ACR now, a rule that was added by OCC with video streaming and the ratio changes. But, as long as it still does incredibly well on pure sales, streaming doesn't matter.

I think that Top 5 is definitely happening for it, and #1 could be a possibility- but we'll have to see how it does as the week goes on. If England wins against Croatia, it'll be for certain, but if they don't we could be seeing a close battle between Three Lions and Paradise.

Hey Ted! :)
Yeah, despite 'Don't Matter To Me' being the best selling unreleased track from 'Scorpion', it's sales were nowhere near as strong as 'Shotgun's were. It also appears that the 'Scorpion' tracks will be more frontloaded than those from his last album.
Yeah, 'Three Lions' is definitely going to #1 if they make it through to the finals, but it passed 700k streams on Spotify yesterday which was massive & while I think 'Shotgun' could take back the #1 on streaming by the end of the tracking week, 'Three Lions' is just miles ahead on sales. It'll obviously plummet if we lose on Wednesday, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if it was leading the Official Chart Update tomorrow. ACR only affects the streaming side of things, so I don't think it'll affect 'Three Lions' that much at all. Even though it doesn't directly affect the charts, I was surprised not to see it on the Top 40 of the airplay charts this week. As for other football related songs, I could see 'Vindaloo' & maybe 'World In Motion' making Top 40 re-entries in the main chart next week.

Hey piran, hope you had a great trip.
I guess you're right about cheat codes as Calvin sings some of his tracks.
Really happy George ezra hung on to number 1 doubt drake will be challenging next week. Shame florence & the machine couldn't make it.
Adoring the debut tom grennan album, hope he hits high in top 10 next week.

Hey Rob! I did have a good time in Amsterdam thanks. :)
Yeah, exactly, although I'm not sure if the Cheat Codes' vocalist sings on every song by the group though.
I'm pleased that 'Shotgun' was #1 too, although 'Three Lions' should get to the top spot if England win their semi-final game against Croatia on Wednesday night!
I was rooting for Florence + The Machine to dominate the albums chart, but Drake's streaming was just too big as expected. I haven't heard Tom Grennan album yet, what's it called?

Yeah 3 lions is going to storm the charts especially should we win during the week. It will be a great achievement showing the new rules still cant stop an old song being no.1 if it does make it but I guess it's got a long way to go yet.
Tom grennans album is called lighting matches, he is a great vocalist and his tracks are very catchy. Am surprised he is not massive already but I think his album should hopefully perform well as his singles haven't been but his music is amazing.

Is there really a rule disadvantaging songs older than 3 years? Since when? Sounds ridiculous to me. It makes sense when songs get loads more plays due to events like the world cup or the artist dying, whats wrong with that.

T

Ted

Yep, like I said they introduced that with YouTube views being added and the ratio changes for Spotify. It's mainly to stop the sudden influx of Christmas songs in the chart, which would be worse this year with both streams and video views. They won't go away completely, we'll just be seeing less of them around.

I can't really see World In Motion making the Top 40 again, but Vindaloo has a better chance. One song that I was thinking could maybe be a surprise #1 was the NHS Voices cover of A Little Help From My Friends, but that looks to be seriously under-performing, even on sales!

Piran

Yeah, I don't even think the latter will make the Top 40 on Friday unfortunately given its non-existent streaming. :/

They've really not thought that song out well to be honest, there's barely any currently popular artists on there, and there seems to have been no effort made to help it with streams. It's not on any Spotify playlists, and haven't even been mentioning it being streamable on their social media accounts!

If England win the World Cup (!) I think Three Lions could make it to number one? But I doubt England will win the WC.

Interesting fact about Three Lions - the song is about the European Championship, not the World Cup! It was released to mark the start of the 1996 European Championship. The song does mention Jules Rimet - the man credited with establishing the World Cup. I think the definitive World Cup song is New Order's World In Motion.

Pretty sure most people know that Three Lions wasn't a World Cup song in the first place! Anyway it's a bit too far to say that it'll go to #1, it's still on ACR and only really got to #24 on downloads. However if we do win against Sweden tonight it will be even bigger on downloads and see an increase on streams too, so I'd say a Top 10 peak for it this year.

This was supposed to be Florence + The Machine's week for #1 in the UK albums chart, but Drake just had to steal that spot...

How good to see that George ezra has held the number 1 spot. Liking the new rules, kept drake off the top. Probably see drake doing 3 videos quick to try and gain momentum but think it will be too late. Only thing to look forward to next week for me in new releases is the Tom Grennan album lighting matches. Hoping kygo & imagine dragons start climbing more it is still tough for decent songs to make it through the charts these days

Number 8 in the album chart - 'Cruising with Jane McDonald'. I don't know if that is her sexual pastime or the name of her album!

Meanwhile Drake has returned to the singles chart and makes you wonder "Michael Jackson didn't agree to this!!!!" Drake is exploiting the late Mr Jackson!

I agree it's rubbish (though better than Drake for sure), but YT streams are bound to help it a bit. According to OCR it is number 2 on youtube chart, behind Maroon 5, so that's gonna help it
