New entry at #48 'Look What They've Done to My Song , Ma' . Originally the B side of Ruby Tuesday by Melanie. Her version made a brief appearance in the chart on 16th January 1971. However it is listed with the titrle of 'What Have They Done To My Song Ma. Checking weith the Guiness Book of Hit Singles both versions are listed with the latter title although listening to the lyrics would suggest the former title should be the correct one. I have found the following on Wikipedia but not sure if I am any the wiser as to the correct title of the New Seekers version

What Have They Done to My Song Ma" is a song by Melanie. It was released in 1970 as the B-side of her "Ruby Tuesday" single and included on the album Candles in the Rain. The single reached the number nine on the UK singles charts for three weeks
Other artists have recorded the song as "Look What They've Done To My Song Ma",[2] after the song's first line, and this title is used on the Music page at Melanie's own website.

Perhaps there is someone out there who has the original single and can giver a definitive answer

Hi Alan,

On my copy the title is 'WHAT HAVE THEY DONE TO MY SONG MA ?' by 'THE NEW SEEKERS (featuring Eve Graham)'.

I think it's rubbish the way OCC have a script which automatically ads 'FT...' to a title when it finds 'featuring...' in the artist name. No wonder their look-up couldn't find an appropriate image, not even a ridiculous one as they so often do.

Thanks for that . I don't like the New Seekers that much but I am very interested in the Charts. I find it irritating when they add FT to the title rather than the artiste as well.

Inbteresting that your copy gives the artiste as 'The New Seekers (featuring Eve Graham) as the Guinness Book only lists the Artiste as The New Seekers. According to them Eve Graham is only mentioned on a minor hit called 'Nevertheless' which reached #34 in 1973 with the artiste listed as 'Eve Graham & The New Seekers'

Maybe Guinness don't mention (featuring Eve Graham) as it's in lower case and brackets below THE NEW SEEKERS. Can't comment on 'Nevertheless' as I don't have that one.

According to the label on the single (as listed on discogs.com), the title of the song was Look What They've Done to My Song Ma. The composer of the song is listed as Melanie (Safka)

Thanks for your reply. Interesting that the label on disccogs.com is different to the label on Phil Davis copy (see below). I guess the only person who can really tell us what the title should be is Melanie

No 38. Label of Tamla Motown TMG 753 shows the title is 'It's Wonderful (To Be Loved By You)'.
No 48. Label of Philips 6006027 shows the title is 'What Have They Done to My Song Ma?'. Note: USA release Elektra 6006027 gives the title as "Look What They've Done To My Song Ma'.
