Yungen has recalled the moment he found out his latest single Bestie had reached the Top 10 on the Official Singles Chart, admitting he "could have cried".

The South London rapper - also known as C J Brooks - scored his breakthrough hit this year with the track, which features fellow rising star Yxng Bane.

Bestie first entered the Official Chart Number 67 in July and steadily climbed to Number 10 14 weeks later. Look back at Bestie's week-by-week chart history here.

"The label called me like on the day saying we'd charted at Number 11," he told Official Charts and other journalists at this year's Vevo Halloween. "I was like, do you know what guys, it's been in the charts for a good few weeks at this point and I've been fighting for a Top 10, but 11 is amazing.

"I was a bit a heartbroken inside though if I'm honest. Then they were like, actually no, we've charted at 10! I literally could have cried that day I was so happy. I probably did a little bit."

Yungen said that his successful 2017 has come off the back of years of hard work, explaining: "I've been working so hard just trying to build my profile and my songs, so just to take off like that... it's weird because people told me that I would know when I'm going to have my moment, but I really didn't. I've been working hard for it, so I'm very grateful."

Asked if he was feeling pressure on making sure his follow-up single was as successful, he said: "Not really. With something like Bestie it was just a song I wanted to make. I wasn't put in a session to make that song, I was just having fun with my mate."
