Years & Years have come top of the BBC Sound of 2015 poll.

The synthpop trio finished in first place on this year's ones-to-watch list, which is compiled by 139 UK-based critics, bloggers and broadcasters.

Singer Olly Alexander said coming top of the list "means we've got a real shot" at success, adding: "People are going to listen to what we're going to do, and we've just got to not muck it up. We've got to make the most of it and deliver."

The band, whose influences include Stevie Wonder, Joni Mitchell, Radiohead and TLC, scored their breakthrough on the Official Singles Chart last year with Desire, which peaked at Number 22. They recently unveiled their new single King, which is released on March 1.

Years & Years comprise of British singer Olly Alexander, Dutch synth player Emre Turkmen and Australian bassist and keyboard player Mikey Goldsworthy.

Olly previously appeared on the West End stage before forming the band, starring alongside Dame Judy Dench and Ben Whishaw in 2013. Last year he appeared in the films The Riot Club and God Help the Girl.

Elsewhere in the poll, singer-songwriter James Bay finished second, and unsigned grime rapper Stormzy placed third, followed by Atlanta R&B star Raury in fourth and spoken word artist George the Poet in fifth.

Previous winners of the BBC Sound Of Poll include Adele, Sam Smith, Ellie Goulding and Haim.
