According to this morning’s Official Charts Company sales data, One Direction could be on course to top both the Official Albums Chart AND the Official Singles Chart on Sunday.

The British/Irish boyband’s new single, Little Things, which was Number 3 in Wednesday’s Official Singles Chart Update, has surged ahead of their fellow X Factor stars Little Mix’s latest track, DNA. Little Things is now only 1,500 copies behind current Official Singles Chart Number 1 race leader, Locked Out Of Heaven by Bruno Mars.

Over on the Official Albums Chart, the band are still on course for their first ever Number 1 album with Take Me Home, which is outselling its closest competitor, Rod Stewart’s Merry Christmas Baby (Number 2), by nearly three copies to one.

Since Monday, Take Me Home has sold over 123,000 copies, which puts it as a close contender for the fatest selling album of 2012. That record is currently held by Mumford And Sons' second album, Babel, which sold 158,000 copies during its first week on sale.

Robbie Williams pulled off an Official Charts Double last Sunday (November 11) when his single Candy held onto Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart, while his album, Take The Crown, debuted at Number 1 on the Official Albums Chart.
