East London rapper Wiley has scorched to Number 1 on the Official Streaming Chart with his summer anthem Heatwave, knocking Florence And The Machine to Number 2.
The Official Streaming Chart is compiled by the Official Charts Company on behalf of the British music industry, and has been running since May. It is the first chart which ranks audio streams from both ad-funded and subscription streaming services in the UK, which reflects the increasing interest in the new generation of music services such as Spotify, Deezer, Napster and We7.
Wiley’s Heatwave climbed an impressive 42 places in the charts last week to Number 3, and has now overtaken the Calvin Harris remix of Florence And The Machine’s Spectrum as the most-streamed track this week.
Maroon 5, who were in the Number 1 spot for five weeks running, are in Number 3 with Payphone. Call Me Maybe by Carly Rae Jepsen spends a fifteenth week in the Official Streaming Chart, retaining the Number 4 spot, while We’ll Be Coming Back by Calvin Harris (FT Example) has climbed from Number 11 to Number 5.
Emeli Sande’s Read All About It (Pt. III) is the highest new entry this week, coming in at Number 40. She is also responsible for the week’s biggest climber, Heaven, which has ascended 35 places from Number 99 to Number 64.
Other new entries to the Official Streaming Chart include the current Number 1 in the Official Singles Chart, How We Do (Party) by Rita Ora, which comes in at Number 48. Little Talks by Of Monsters & Men debuts at Number 60. Redlight’s dance track Lost In Your Love is new in at Number 81, while Lawson’s Taking Over Me slides in at Number 87.
The Olympics has helped out both Elbow and Kate Bush, who have seen One Day Like This and Running Up That Hill enter the chart at Number 62 and Number 63, respectively.
Besides Emeli Sande, the other big climbers this week are US rockers Fun. with Some Nights, up 27 places from 95 to 68, and Brit boyband One Direction’s What Makes You Beautiful, leaping 22 places from 77 to 55.
