Queen Bey plays a beauty pageant contestant in the video for her new track, Pretty Hurts.

Beyonce has revealed the video for Pretty Hurts, the fourth track to be lifted from her Official Albums Chart Number 2 self-titled visual album.

The seven minute video for the track, which is currently available for UK download, sees Beyonce explore the ugly side of beauty pageants, competing as ‘Miss 3rd Ward’, the district of Houston, Texas, where the singer lived as a child.

Beyonce has scored a massive 28 UK Official Singles Chart Top 40 hits, with five hitting Number 1. 2003’s Crazy in Love and 2006’s Deja vu, both featuring hubby Jay Z, hit the top spot along with 2007’s Beautiful Liar with Shakira, 2008’s If I Were A Boy and 2009 collaboration with Lady Gaga, Telephone.

Alongside the video release, the pop diva has also started the #WhatIsPretty campaign on Instagram, inviting fans to upload a photo or video tagged #WhatIsPretty, explaining what the word means to them.
