Uptown Funk scores third week at Number 1 and sets new streaming record

Mark Ronson’s Uptown Funk FT Bruno Mars claims a third non-consecutive week at Number 1.

Uptown Funk has racked up a combined chart sales figure of over 156,000 in the last seven days, being streamed nearly 2.56 million times. This new streaming tally beats the track’s previous total of 2.49 million audio streams in a week, setting a new all-time Official Chart record.

Three other tracks have been streamed over a million times this week; Ed Sheeran’s Thinking Out Loud, (1.73m) Hozier’s Take Me To Church (1.26m) and Olly Murs’ Wrapped Up FT Travie McCoy (1.02m).

This week’s highest new entry belongs to 21-year-old Nottingham-based DJ Philip George, whose debut release Wish You Were Mine – which samples Stevie Wonder’s My Cherie Amour – has gone straight in at Number 2.

Ed Sheeran’s Thinking Out Loud holds firm at 3, followed by Ben Haenow’s Something I Need (4), and Taylor Swift’s Blank Space (5).

New entries

There is just one further new entry in today’s Official Singles Chart Top 40.

Kanye West’s new single Only One enters the chart at Number 35 today. The track – which features The Beatles’ legend Paul McCartney – is written from the perspective of Kanye’s late mother Donda, who the rapper says was “singing to me, and through me to my daughter”.

There are five re-entries in today’s Top 40. The most streamed track of 2014, Clean Bandit’s Rather Be FT Jess Glynne climbs 22 places to Number 28 today, while Sigma’s Changing FT Paloma Faith is up 20 places to 33.

The biggest selling single of last year, Pharrell’s Happy re-enters at 34, trailed by John Legend’s All Of Me (36) and Lilly Wood & Robin Schulz’s Prayer In C (39).
