To celebrate a decade of digital downloading in the UK, MTV Rocks have revealed the Official All-Time Rock Download Chart Top 20.

Sex On Fire by Kings Of Leon was today revealed as the UK’s most downloaded rock song of all time.

The track, which was originally released in 2008, topped the genre chart unveiled this afternoon on music TV channel MTV Rocks. Sex On Fire is also the 10th most downloaded track in the UK over-all.

The Official All-time Rock Download Chart Top 20 was unveiled as part of the UK music industry’s Decade Of Digital celebrations. The initiative, supported by the BPI, the Entertainment Retailers’ Association and the Official Charts Company, is designed to celebrate 10 years since legitimate downloading launched in the UK in 2004.

US rockers Fun. claim second place on the Official All-time Rock Download Chart with their 2012 Official Singles Chart Number 1, We Are Young FT Janelle Monae. The track has sold nearly 1.1 million copies in the UK to date.

Fun.’s frontman Andrew Dost can’t believe how successful We Are Young has become in the UK:

“This is something that happens to your heroes and to people on TV; it’s not something that happens to us,” he told OfficialCharts.com.

As well as taking the top spot, Kings Of Leon also occupy the Number 3 slot on thechart with their 2008 track, Use Somebody.

Snow Patrol’s Chasing Cars is at Number 4. Originally released in 2006, the track is one of the UK’s biggest-selling singles of all-time, despite never reaching Number 1.

The Top 5 is completed by Journey’s 1981 single, Don’t Stop Believin’ (5).  The classic rock anthem received a new lease of life after being featured in the final episode of HBO TV series The Sopranos and in musical comedy Glee. It has sold more digitally in recent years than it did as a physical release first time around.
