The Smurfs are battling for this week's Number 1 DVD in one of the closest races of the year

Just 200 copies separate the Top 2 DVD/Blu-ray products this week.

The star of last week's Number 1 DVD and Blu-ray Scarlett Johansson will have her work cut out should she want to hold onto the top spot this week.

After shifting 66,000 units last week to comfortably take the top spot, Ghost In The Shell has extremely stiff competition this time around. While the Western take on the popular Japanese franchise is still sitting at Number 1 in today's Chart Update, its nearest rival is just 200 units behind it in the race for this Sunday's Number 1.

Smurfs: The Lost Village is so close behind at the midweek position of Number 2, leaving this chart race wide open as the week progresses and more sales are counted. Should The Smurfs take over Ghost in the Shell, it will mark the first Number 1 on the Official Video Chart for the franchise.

New entries and high climbers

Elsewhere in the Top 10, a further two new entries are hoping to secure a top flight position. Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine comedy Going In Style… goes in stylishly at Number 5, ahead of Poldark: Complete Series Three at Number 10.

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow: Season 2 is new at Number 12 at the halfway mark of the week, closely followed by Formula One movie Williams (13), The Blacklist: Complete Fourth Season (16) and Jim Broadbent mystery drama The Sense Of An Ending (19).

Finally, Invasion: DC Crossover flies to Number 26 and there’s a huge rebound for the animated movie Storks, swooping up the chart by 42 places to Number 30.
