The Official Top 10 Bands Beginning With ‘The’

Every day this week Steve Lamacq will be counting down some unusual Official Top 10s on his radio show on BBC 6 Music. Yesterday he revealed the Official Top 10 singles by bands beginning with ‘The’.

As part of the 60th anniversary celebrations of the Official Singles Chart, Steve Lamacq challenged his listeners to come up with unusual subjects for an Official Top 10.

In turn, we agreed to mine the Official Charts Company’s sales data, and come up with some Official Top 10s, no matter how weird.

Yesterday (Monday, November 12) Steve revealed the Official Top 10 Singles Bands Beginning With ‘The’.

The Beatles, who are the top selling group of all time, dominate the Top 10 with six tracks. Their 1963 singles She Loves You and I Want To Hold Your Hand, and Can’t Buy Me Love occupy the Number 1, 2 and 4 positions, respectively.

The Human League are at Number 3 with their 1981 classic, Don’t You Want Me?, while The Seekers’ 1965 track The Carnival Is Over completes the Top 5.
