Can The Chainsmokers and Halsey score their first Official Singles Chart Number 1 with Closer this week?

The collaboration between the New York production duo and New Jersey singer-songwriter has already hit the top spot in Australia and the United States, and it looks like the UK will follow suit. It’s leading this week’s Top 40 at the mid-week stage, but it’s close: just 1,900 combined sales separate them and DJ Snake ft. Justin Bieber's Let Me Love You at 2.

Completing the Top 5 are Major Lazer, Justin Bieber and MØ's Cold Water at 3, Calum Scott's Dancing On My Own at 4 and twenty one pilots' Heathens which is static at 5.

New entries and high climbers

A big climber of eleven places on today's Update is Sunshine from Tieks ft. Dan Harkna, up from 23 to Number 12 at the halfway point, while Anne-Marie's Alarm ascends two rungs to 17, a potential new peak for the song.

Martin Garrix and Bebe Rexha's In The Name Of Love rises five spots from 24 to 19, but it is Bob Marley who climbs further; the LVNDSCAPE and Bolier remix of Is This Love surges nineteen spots to Number 20.

Finally, Digital Farm Animals and Cash Cash's Millionaire is on course to enter the Top 40 for the first time, up eight to Number 38.

Yeah, 5 weeks is the tipping point... Either Closer or Let Me Love You hitting number 1 would be fine, I'm glad Closer is outperforiming the rest of their songs as it's their only one I like. But come on,Tieks, Calum Scott and Anne-Marie need to drop out soon.
