To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Official Singles Chart, every weekend our good friends at MTV will be counting down some very special Top 60s. Today at midday, they will be revealing the Top 60 biggest selling Number 1 collaborations of the 21st Century!
Shaggy's It Wasn't Me FT Rikrok tops the chart. Released in 2001, it entered the Official Singles Chart at 31 before climbing to the top spot on March 4, ending Atomic Kitten's four week stand at Number 1 with Whole Again.
Peter Kay's 2005 reworking of Tony Christi's Number 18 1972 hit Is This the Way to Amarillo? is in second place. Released in aid of Comic Relief, the track spent seven weeks at Number 1. It became the best-selling single of 2005.
Gotye FT Kimbra's Somebody That I Used To Know, which is the biggest selling track of 2012 so far, is at Number 3 in the countdown, while Rihanna FT Calvin Harris' 2011 Number 1, We Found Love, is at Number 4. The 2004 re-recording of Bob Geldof and Midge Ure’s landmark 1984 charity single Band Aid 20 (Number 5), completes the Top 5. Bono, Paul McCartney and George Michael were the only artists from the original recording session who appeared on the 20th anniversary release.
