Take That on track for sixth UK Number 1 album with III

The trio’s new collection III is currently in pole position on today’s Official Chart Update with impressive sales of 96,000 at the mid-week stage. If it remains at the top until Sunday, it will mark the band’s sixth consecutive chart-topping LP.

Meanwhile, AC/DC are tracking at Number 2 with Rock Or Bust. The release is the Aussie rock band’s 15th studio album and arrives six years after 2008’s chart-topping Black Ice.

Ed Sheeran’s million-selling album X is at Number 3, One Direction’s Four is at 4, and Sam Smith’s In The Lonely Hour completes the Top 5.

New entries and high climbers

Newly-formed supergroup McBusted are new at Number 6 with their self-titled album. The record, which includes Top 20 single Air Guitar, marks the band’s debut LP since joining forces.

Following her performance of new single Yours on last week’s X Factor results show, Ella Henderson’s Chapter One rebounds 26 to 10 on today’s Update. The album topped the charts when it was released back in October.

Elsewhere, The Vamps’ vault 43 to 12 following the special edition release of Meet The Vamps, Il Divo’s A Musical Affair – Live In Japan enters at 16, and Kiesza’s debut album Sound Of A Woman lands at Number 29.
