T2 Trainspotting on the right track towards the Official Video Chart Number 1 spot

T2 Trainspotting, the epic sequel to cult British classic Trainspotting has plenty of steam in its engine when it comes to the Official Video Chart.

In today's midweek Chart Update, the Danny Boyle-directed epic starring Ewan McGregor and Robert Carlyle is tipped to enter at Number 1 on Sunday's Official Video Chart, and has shifted 56,000 units after three days on sale. 

The original Trainspotting movie, despite its legendary status that grew in the years that followed its release, only peaked at Number 2 on the Official Video Chart. T2 is however 37,000 copies in the lead at the moment, and is on the right track to bag the coveted top spot.

Chasing Trainspotting in pursuit of chart glory is Split, a thriller starring James McAvoy about a man with multiple split personalities (2). The Number 1 for the last two weeks Sing is down to 3 at the halfway point of this week's chart, ahead of Hacksaw Ridge (4) and XXX: The Return of Xander Cage at 5.

New entries and high climbers

Rachel Weisz' Denial could sneak into the Top 10, but is currently outside at 11, ahead of Matthew McConaughey's Gold at Number 13. It Was Fifty Years Ago Today... a documentary on The Beatles' Sgt Pepper era is also new - aiming for a Number 15 placing - as is boxing movie Jawbone at Number 19 today.

From boxing to wrestling, WWE: WrestleMania 33 is sitting at Number 21 currently, while there are more new entries for Headshot (29), The Perfect Weapon (34) and The Space Between Us (35). Finally, the original Trainspotting could vault 55 spots to Number 30.
