The Twilight Saga: New Moon, sequel to the smash hit vampire movie Twilight has confirmed its place as the fastest-selling DVD/Blu-Ray of the year so far after just one day of sales, the Official Charts Company confirms today.
Official Sales figures for The Twilight Saga: New Moon stood at over 600,000 for the day of release (Monday 22nd March), almost 50% more sales than Up, the second fastest-selling DVD of the year so far, achieved in its first full week of sales.
The Twilight Saga: New Moon achieved phenomenal UK box office success in December last year when it recorded the 5th largest weekend opening of all time. Current box office takings stand at over £27 million.
Official Charts Company managing director Martin Talbot says, “The amazing opening success of New Moon has put it well on the way to being one of this year’s biggest DVD blockbusters. And, with the first Twilight film having now also passed the 2m sales mark, it is also firmly established as the big new movie franchise of the new decade.”
