Both Star Trek Beyond and The BFG are selling like hotcakes in retailers across the UK this week, but which of them will nab the coveted honour of being named the best selling DVD and Blu-ray of the last seven days?

The two movies have both sold in excess of 140,000 copies as of today's Update, with Star Wars having a slight edge at the halfway mark. The sci-fi epic has shifted 150,000 copies, while The BFG has accrued sales of 146,500. With such a small margin between the two heavy-hitters, either of them could grab that top spot by Sunday.

Should Beyond hold onto its lead, it will be the third consecutive Number 1 for the Star Trek franchise. The 2009 reboot sold 457,000 units in its first week, while 451,000 of you picked up Star Trek: Into Darkness during its first seven days on sale in 2013.

New entries and high climbers

Another nine releases are vying for the Top 40 this week, the first being the revival of Ghostbusters, which is calling into the Number 4 position. The Beatles' documentary Eight Days A Week could land at Number 6, and YouTube stars Joe Sugg and Caspar Lee drive to Number 9 with Joe & Caspar Hit The Road - USA.

Doctor Who: The Power of The Daleks exterminates its way to Number 11, Sarah Millican eyes up Number 13 with Outsider and a box set of all three modern day Star Trek movies hopes to live long and prosper at Number 19.

Following the cinematic release of Harry Potter spin-off Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them, the complete HP box set rises a prospective 31 places to Number 28, ahead of Christmas with the Coopers at 34.

Romesh Ranganathan's Irrational - Live is a newbie at 35, followed by Still Game's The Complete Series 7 at 37.
