We’ve been asking for your favourite secondhand songs – are you sitting on a Pop Gem?

Every week we ask for your Pop Gems, those tracks that were big news back in the day, but are somewhat overshadowed, these days, be it thanks to the passage of time or bigger hits eclipsing them.

This week, we wanted your cover versions, songs that were either hits for or recorded by somebody else way before the version you liked hit the charts. Which secondhand songs were your Pop Gems?

As usual, things got heated at Official Charts HQ when it came to drawing up a shortlist. You’ve no idea how close we were to putting Samantha Fox’s I Only Wanna Be With You on it.

Once we’d been separated from each other’s throats, we settle on 12 of the great and the good and the downright Pop-Gemulous.
