Shawn Mendes to release brand new single There's Nothing Holdin' Me Back

The completely new track will drop on April 20.

Shawn Mendes may have only just put out his latest album Illuminate last October, but he has already announced fresh material to be released this week.

The Canadian heartthrob will unveil his brand new single There's Nothing Holdin' Me Back tomorrow (April 20), just in time to make a huge impact on #NewMusicFriday the following day. The new track is not included on his latest LP Illuminate, and it is currently unknown whether it will feature on a deluxe edition of Shawn's second studio album, or will trail the release of a new record.

Judging by comments made by Shawn, the song is in line with the style of material featured on Illuminate and will slot perfectly into his UK tour setlist.

"The minute I wrote this song I knew I wanted to get it out before my tour started, to give fans something new and fresh in addition to everything from Illuminate. I can't wait to perform it on the tour, and for everyone to hear it. It's equal parts what is amazing about this album, and what I'm so excited for about the music I have coming up next."

Shawn has enjoyed huge success on UK shores, despite only being 18-years-old. He has so far scored two Top 15 albums, including the aforementioned Illuminate, which peaked at Number 3 behind Passenger and Bruce Springsteen in its first full week on sale.

There's Nothing Holdin' Me Back is Shawn's first single since Mercy, which charted at Number 15. Previous single Treat You Better scored a Number 9 peak. Treat You Better's songwriter Scott Harris co-wrote the new track with Shawn, alongside his Number 1 Stitches' songwriter Teddy Geiger.

Shawn's UK & Ireland tour begins in Glasgow on April 27, and will hit cities such as Manchester, London and Dublin.
