Shawn Mendes is surprised with Official Number 1 Award during BBC's The One Show

It was a day of firsts for Shawn Mendes yesterday (Feb 3). As well as delivering his first live performance on UK TV on BBC One's The One Show, he was surprised with his very first Official Number 1 Award! 

Shawn was honoured with the trophy for his chart-topping single Stitches by presenters Alex Jones and Matt Baker ahead of his acoustic rendition of the track on the show, which also included Jack Black on its guest lineup.

Speaking to OfficialCharts.com after the show, Shawn said: "I knew the track was special... the fact my music is translating so far is really weird for me." Watch the singer celebrate his Number 1 single with us below: 

Stitches is currently enjoying a second week at Number 1, after knocking Justin Bieber's Love Yourself off the top spot last month. His debut album, Handwritten, is also out now.
