Dublin trio The Script score their second number one album today as new release Science & Faith leaps straight to the top of the Official Albums Chart heading a flurry of new entries in this week’s Official Albums Chart Top 10.
Science & Faith led all the way having topped the Official Albums Chart Update on Wednesday.
The Script’s lead singer Danny O’Donoghue said:
“We believe soul is not just a genre of music it's a human condition. We have put ours into this music and we are so humbled by the response this album has received.”
Science & Faith follows The Script’s first album, The Script (2008), which also made its chart debut at number one. A blend of pop, rock, hip hop and soul the album delivered three hit singles - We Cry (no. 15), Breakeven (no. 21) and The Man Who Can’t Be Moved (no. 2) - and lead to Paul McCartney personally requesting the band to support him at a number of US stadium shows. The Script (the album) is now approaching some 2 million worldwide sales.
The Script’s latest single, For The First Time, climbs to number four in this week’s Official Singles Chart, having debuted last week at number five.
The Script are; Danny O’Donoghue (vocals, keyboards), Mark Sheehan (guitar) and Glen Power (drums, multi-instrumentalist).
Friends since their teens, Danny and Mark forged a song-writing partnership which won them U2 as early admirers and saw them working in the US with r’n’b heroes Dallas Austin, Teddy Riley and The Neptunes (Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo). A chance meeting with Glen led to their return to Dublin...and the start of The Script. The trio are now based in London.
There are another four new entries in this week’s Official Albums Chart Top 10; Linkin Park’s A Thousand Suns at number two, Robert Plant’s Band Of Joy at number three, Phil Collins’ Going Back at number four, and Interpol’s Interpol at number ten.
In the Official Singles Chart, Alexandra Burke is number one for a second week with Start Without You featuring American rapper Laza Morgan. There are just two new entries in the Official Singles Chart Top 10; Usher’s DJ Got Us Falling In Love featuring Pitbull at number seven (up from last week’s fourteen) and Shontelle’s Impossible straight in at number ten.
