Sam Smith heading for third Official Singles Chart Number 1!

The 22-year-old singer/songwriter is heading for his third chart topping single this weekend with Stay With Me.

British singer/songwriter, Sam Smith, looks set to score his third Official Singles Chart Number 1 on Sunday with Stay With Me.

The trackis the third single to be lifted from the singer’s upcoming debut album, In The Lonely Hour, which is set to be released next Monday (May 26). According to the Official Chart Company's sales data, is currently outselling its closest rival by two copies to one at this midway stage.

22-year-old Sam first rose to fame in 2012 after featuring on Disclosure’s Latch, which peaked at Number 11 on the Official Singles Chart. The singer went on to hit the Official Singles Chart top spot for the first time in 2013, featuring on Naughty Boy’s La La La before scoring his first solo Number 1 in March of this year with Money On My Mind.

Debuting at Number 2 on today’s Official Singles Chart Update is British/Ghanaian musician, Fuse ODG, with Dangerous Love FT Sean Paul.

Sliding one place to Number 3 is Dutch hip-hop star, Mr Probz, with his debut UK single Waves, followed closely by Rita Ora with current Official Singles Chart Number 1, I Will Never Let You Down, dropping three places to Number 4 today. 

Clean Bandit round out today’s Top 5 with their new single, Extraordinary FT Sharna Bass. It is the follow up to the classical-crossover quartet’s single, Rather Be, which spent four weeks at Number 1 back in January.

New Entries and High Climbers

In addition to Sam Smith’s Stay With Me (Number 1), Fuse ODG’s Dangerous Love FT Sean Paul (2) and Clean Bandit’s Extraordinary FT Sharna Bass (5), there are three further new entries on the Official Singles Chart Update today, starting with Dutch producer and DJ, Afrojack, who is in at Number 13 with Ten Feet Tall FT Wrabel.

Following the release of their sixth studio album, Ghost Stories, Coldplay feature on today’s Official Singles Chart Update three times. Two new entries, A Sky Full Of Stars (14) and Midnight (35) join the album’s lead single, Magic, which currently sits at Number 22 on the chart.

The highest climber on today’s Official Singles Chart Update is Ed Sheeran’s One, which is taken from the singer’s upcoming studio album, x. The track debuted at Number 20 last Sunday after just 48 hours on sale. Today it surges a further eight places to Number 12 on today’s Update.
