Sam Smith and John Legend's Lay Me Down on course for second week at singles Number 1

The pair's official Comic Relief single looks set for a second week at Number 1.

Sam Smith and John Legend look set to continue their reign over the Official Singles Chart this week.

The pair’s official Comic Relief single Lay Me Down holds the lead on today’s Chart Update, after making a last-minute grab for Number 1 on last week’s tally.

The song marks Smith’s fourth chart-topping single and the first for Legend, beating his previous peak of Number 2 with All Of Me.

Meanwhile, Years & Years hold firm at Number 2 with King, Rihanna, Kanye West and Paul McCartney’s FourFiveSeconds is at 3, Hozier’s Take Me To Church climbs 6 to 4, and Ellie Goulding’s Love Me Like You Do completes the Top 5.

New entries and high climbers

On course for this week’s highest new entry is Tough Love’s So Freakin’ Tight. The house duo, comprising of Alex and Stef, are at Number 10 on today’s Update.

Further down the chart, MNEK is on course for his first Top 40 as a headline artist with The Rhythm, currently at Number 26. Last year the producer and singer previously scored a Top 5 hit as a guest feature on Gorgon City’s Ready For Your Love.

Elsewhere, Pitbull and Ne-Yo’s Time Of Our Lives enters the Top 40 at 28, and following its release last week, Muse’s Psycho climbs into the Top 40 at 39.
