Sam & The Womp's debut single, Bom Bom, has gone straight to Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart, racking up impressive opening week sales of over 107,000 copies.
As their lyrics suggest, Sam And The Womp will no doubt be left feeling pretty cool and groovy today as the infectious Bom Bom delivers them a huge debut Number 1 smash!
The London-based big band collective have been showing the UK how to 'womp', toppling Rita Ora’s How We Do (Party) to rack up impressive opening week sales of 107,000 copies, putting Bom Bom up there as one of the fastest selling singles of 2012. Sam And The Womp join the likes of DJ Fresh, Rita Ora, Wiley and Cheryl in the league of artists who have managed to break the 100k sales barrier in their first week of release this year.
Frontman and trumpet master Sam Ritchie tells OfficialCharts.com:
“Can’t believe it, we’re Number 1! Thankyou to all our fans for your support, everyone in the womp team, massive womps to you! We really didn’t expect this at all for Bom Bom to go all the way to the top when we were writing it in a muddy field a couple of years ago, with Mr Aaron Audio falling off his chair!”
